Talking of the hundred, I’ve not been blown away by it, the quality hasn’t been great. That’s fine it’s the first year etc. This guy speaking about the 100 is taking the piss with the things hes saying
Surprised more people haven't kicked off on here to be honest![]()
Why do you think they would regard Durham being back in the minor counties as a success? Not saying you’re wrong, just don’t understand the reasoning….There is, but this was analysis of the test team on the morning of the test on the test match thread. It's undoubtedly had a negative effect on the test team, the team which props up the entire game. Already.
Not sure how you can say it's been a success. We've seen more marketing budget thrown at it than (I read) the last 20 years of domestic cricket combined. That's an insane levels of investment. Stupid. And for what? The general consensus that it's just T20 with 5 ball overs.
So more of the same, excluding half the country, for 20 times the price. Absolutely f***ing ridiculous.
Success will be judged in a few years. If this competition is still running and Durham CC is back in the minor counties, then it's been a success.
Anyway, shit morning for England.
Durham are not one of the chosen 8, it would be perfect if we could become a feeder team for the Leeds franchise. Why do you think they would regard Durham being back in the minor counties as a success? Not saying you’re wrong, just don’t understand the reasoning….
I’m dubious and just can’t buy the argument that the likes of Essex, Kent, Somerset, even Durham would be allowed to fall away. More so when you consider what they have contributed to England at international level over the last 20 odd years.Durham are not one of the chosen 8, it would be perfect if we could become a feeder team for the Leeds franchise.
The conversation around franchise red ball has already started. We were warned, we ignored the warnings. Well not me, but you know....
Agree but we all know that the target audience for the hundred is not people discussing test cricket or the impact on the county sides not in the chosen 8. Had a woman at work who asked me if I had been to any of the hundred games yet and she was taking her kids one night that week. That is the aim isn't it, to get people into cricket who currently aren't that interested (as much as the majority of 'proper' cricket fans think its a load of shite).Talking of the hundred, I’ve not been blown away by it, the quality hasn’t been great. It’s maybe the commentary as well, I can’t abide Pietersen and the fella who sounds like he’s got something stuck in his throat-Dagnall. I think Ebbs and Isha have been the best in the box ().

In what way is it naive? That's up to you chief. I'm surprised at the naivety of that opinion, but that's up to you.
Test is on, such as it is.....
This is the test thread chief, go over to the 16.4 thread and have a look. It's been covered many many many many times. In what way is it naive?
Ok, if you’re not up for sensible discussion I’ll leave you to your tinfoil. This is the test thread chief, go over to the 16.4 thread and have a look. It's been covered many many many many times.
50 for Rohit, not much to trouble them so far.
This is it... People who don't like cricket are buzzing on it. Though the point made about the extra investment and - f***ing crucially - sticking a chunk of it on terrestrial TV is well made by @Steak Pie is fair. Stick the f***ing tests on terrestial and we'd be in a different f***ing stratosphere - we know that, we remember it! Even if it was just the Ashes it would transform the game in this country.Agree but we all know that the target audience for the hundred is not people discussing test cricket or the impact on the county sides not in the chosen 8.
