Yeah that won’t help, I agree, but that was not really the discussion it was that our top players were not playing 50 over cricket domestically and it was suggested that it’s the ECB’s fault for that when rightly or wrongly it a worldwide trend that top players play very little if any domestic 50 over cricket.
Olly Stone last played a domestic 50 over match in……2018

FTECB logic. Grow the game by ensuring we have strong England teams - the 2019 WC did more for cricket in this country than the 16.4 will ever do.
Or completely and willingly destroy the calendar by forcing in a format that no other country in the world plays into the height of summer.

Whether the top players in the world play domestic List A is wholly irrelevant to the argument regarding England's inability to compete in ODIs. The fact is opposition international teams can adapt to ODIs whilst England can't/wont.

Totally and utterly agree opposition players have adapted better in ODIs than ours have.
You dead right, but that wasn’t the argument, posters were saying because we play less domestically that was the reason, when all play less domestically.
The reason is like you say we have adapted worse than other nations
Yeh but the opportunity is there in other countries to play which they no doubt would have done in their formative years. I doubt if other countries List A domestic tournaments have been as weakened as in England. ECB openly admit that List A is now designed as a development tournament,it's their responsibility that it is so weak by staging 16.4 to run concurrently. No other country program timetables 2 tournaments to clash.

50 over cricket rightly or wrongly has took a backwards step since T20 became more and more popular.
Like I said earlier Ashwin from India was talking about it last year saying he can’t remember last time he played a 50 over game domestically.
Not saying it’s right mind, but it’s not down to the ECB it’s been downgraded domestically worldwide.
For example if The Hundred was not on this year the likes of Salt and Jacks would have been playing in the new T20 tournament in America not 50 over cricket for Surrey and Lancs imo

But England's domestic tournament has been downgraded far more severely than other countries because of ECB fixation with the Hundred.No other country promotes other tournaments to coincide with their List A schedule. Emerging players would have had the opportunity to develop one day skills had it not been down to ECB downgrading it.Ergo,it is down to ECB.

It’s not emerging players that were get debated, it was that our international team were currently not doing well because they not playing 50 over cricket domestically.
Which like I say very few if any in the world play 50 over domestically.
And you were right other international players seem to be adapting better.
I know it’s pointless pointing out stuff like that though, as certain posters will not be content.
Until the ECB, is blamed for climate change, child poverty and every other problem.

This present England team is composed largely of emerging players,batting wise certainly Jacks,Brook,Smith,Bethell have only experienced the 50 over domestic game in its development format,no wonder they find the International format a massive step up. Clearly the transition would have been easier had they experienced a domestic tournament which hadn't been weakened by ECB interference.
Your sarcasm at the end of the post is ironic-can you not see that you are equally one eyed in your defence of the ECB on this issue?

Just going round in circles mate, the reason them players have not experienced domestic 50 over cricket is a worldwide trend in the same way similar young international playets from Australia and India will not have done soo either as they will have been playing T20 not 50 over domestically.
They have adapted better in that transition than ours I agree but they will have had the same problem as our players, they just probably have taken more responsibility to adapt and their fans expect them too rather than blaming their governing body for a worldwide trend.
You continue to blame the ECB if you want no doubt you will, at least you have not joined the in gang calling them FTECB!!

England's 50 over tournament has been weakened far more than others because they uniquely run an alternate tournament at the same time. Can you accept or deny that point.
I do use the term FTECB. it is an expression of my utter contempt towards them.

Englands 50 over tournament has been weakened totally accept that point, so has everybody’s else’s because the best players play in T20 tournaments not their domestic 50 over tournament.
Whether it is weaker than others ones I have no idea, but it’s obvious and clear as day since the introduction of T20 leagues around the world and the best players playing in it this would happen.
Like I said even if the hundred tournament wasn’t played alongside the 50 over tournament the best players the ones you mentioned, would go play another T20 tournament somewhere else in the world rather than 50 over domestically.
And excactly the same problem would happen
The likes of Buttler and Stokes hardly played any 50 over cricket in the recent run up to 2019 and that was before the hundred
Domestically I mean for those two
Imo the success of that side was down to the quality of Morgan, Bayliss, the players and mentality change not how much 50 over cricket they played domestically

The early season CC is weakened but not significantly by IPL which is understandable given the monies available. The whole idea of central contracts was to prevent our best players being lured to other tournaments.Not many of the English recruits to the Hundred would be offered contracts to other T20s -you have absolutely no evidence to prove otherwise.On average each county loses 4 or 5 players to the Hundred-are you seriously claiming a significant number of them would be offered contracts elsewhere? Likelihood is very few,if any,would be.

The England players you mentioned would and the other top England players would either be playing elsewhere or rested if the hundred was not played.
Like I said with the calendar the way it is top English players had already before the hundred even existed started playing less and less 50 over cricket domestically and with the international calendar and T20 touraments around the world that was always rightly or wrongly going to happen, like I say was already happening.
In short rightly or wrongly with or without the hundred domestic 50 over competitions were always going to be downgraded.

I thought we were talking about top England players?
Like I said them would be playing elsewhere or rested, thus tournament would be downgraded and them top England players would not be involved and get the extra practice in 50 over domestically so would have to adapt when they play internationally like other international players do seemingly better than us at the moment.
If you talking about regular county players who have been selected to play in the hundred who not good enough to play for England or be picked up by other T20 tournaments than yeah they would play 50 over domestically.
