The press release suggests that was taken into consideration. My guess from our point of view is Durham have said it’s okay, we can do without them.

It clearly wasn't taken into consideration whatever the selectors claim. It would be an unfair question if Durham were asked about availability. A club can't answer no to that sort of question.

Cant get on board with this, players missing last couple of games of county cricket to make up an England reserve squad and play a rather pointless series.
They didn't let Sussex select Robinson against Durham because he needed to work on fitness.

While he's off in Spain/Portugal playing golf. Sussex promotion hopes dented as a result, they can't have him for the next game either.

But they can for the final two. ECB couldn't give a fuck about counties.

We need 5 points out of a possible 48 to become champions(which we could probably do without any bowlers) and if Leicestershire fail to win this weekend then we are guaranteed promotion.

So why would we not let Potts get a chance of further England honours. Carse was never playing the last 2 games as he's off to India as a reserve anyway.

Pointless.. World cup qualifying points at stake.

Hardly pointless.

Ireland need about 1 win to overtake West Indies to avoid qualifying group for next world cup at moment.

England were 7th at one point but luckily this series will move us into top4 again for 2027.

So yes important series as always.

Please note last year we played Ireland massive game if Ireland won the last game would have avoided qualifying.

People don't get modern cricket and test championship and world cup qualifying in both one day formats these days which is a shame.

The only way that this series could be in any way slightly meaningful, would be as preparation for lads going to the World Cup, but it's not even going to be that

We've two warm up and nine round robin games in a month in India. Cannit see much to be gained from our first choices putting themselves out against Ireland tbh.
This and we can't just decide to not play Ireland who need to try and beat higher ranked opposition to qualify for 2027.

Good chance for the next generation to play as that side is more like what our side is going to be in 2027.

Brook, Carse and Ahmed will all be going to India either in the main squad or as reserves.

Brook may end up playing too many games at this rate. No doubt we will have people moaning if he does

You can’t play up the importance of this series when it’s our reserve squad.
