Denly?

Let me get this right. Last week they scored 615/9 and he didn’t bowl once. And this week we didn’t pick a spinner and at 206/5 we decide he is worth a bowl?
And now a half fit Stokes?

we have 4 seamers still don’t we?
Seriously Root, fuck off

they’re 209/5. With a debutant on 6*. And you have one slip to him for Stokes? And no close catchers for the spinner?

Just sat thinking the same, it’s baffling captaincy and the momentum has already drained.

Our attack looks toothless again.
Loads of talk about the wicket being a road. It'll be a different story when we come in to bat.

NZ just batting the game out now and England look as if they've given up, tedious to watch.
All out for 375 in the end.

Urgh. Feels like a re-run of the 1st test. Watch us collapse under 200 and they bat us out the game
This new start isn't exactly going to plan - selection very muddled again

Another thoroughly shit day. Writing has to be on the wall for Joe after this. Putting a team into bat on a flat wicket, no proper spinner and letting them score 375 ya f***ing numpty.

Sibley deserved to be selected and must be given plenty of time however in my view the selectors were absolutely right not to select him during the Ashes series. His game was never going to get runs against the quality of that attack and would only have destroyed his confidence before he had a chance. However he has been given his chance in NZ on unexpectedly flat pitches and in this test without their best bowler. Every test attack in the world has quality but he wont get it much easier than this, he needs a decent knock in the second innings just for his own self belief.

I can't believe how poor Sibley's technique is. That is a classic example of a batsmen who is used to batting against medium pace dobbers in county cricket on poor wickets.

Remember the ashes finishing at the Oval and being desperate for this series to start.

what a disappointment. Seems sorting the test team is going to be a bit like turning an oil tanker around. New captain would be the best start, even a short term option. Leave Root to his batting
