Don’t worry, if you’re not up to it don’t go. I’ve worked for prolonged periods in warmer climes until I was 70 and if you are sensible not a problem. I would be out at warmest time of day with no shade. We are going to have literally the hottest temperatures ever recorded in England.
We aren't in Australia, India or anywhere else. It's daft to compare their summer to ours: their infrastructure is designed for heat, but ours isn't. At 35°C in Chester-le-Street, there will be people who can't make it because the train lines aren't operating and the roads may have a knock-on effect. LNER have already announced that there are no trains from London to York or Leeds on Tuesday. There will also be people who are unable to safely spend all day in the sun, even with water, suncream and a hat. I'm thinking particularly with cricket having an older-than-average crowd.
As for going on holiday in warmer climates: I deliberately travel in the cooler months to avoid the extreme temperatures.
Unlikely. Is there a chance it could be called off?
The major part of the crowd will be from the NE, I am driving up from York. That’s assuming the A19 hasn’t melted. I would be surprised if it is called off.Is there a chance it could be called off?
Same. Front row of the trapdoor. Ain’t gonna get much cover there34 degrees in the trapdoor stand is going to be fun![]()
Still 35 degrees forecastThe major part of the crowd will be from the NE, I am driving up from York. That’s assuming the A19 hasn’t melted. I would be surprised if it is called off.

NoIs there a chance it could be called off?
32 at 4pm.Met office has it "down" at 31 currently
It'll be fine. I just hope the club have ordered enough booze. If you put in CLS it says 32 and if you put in Durham ICG it's 31
Not going myself but to see a match called off because its too hot would be rather depressing, considering its only going to get worse in future.
Bloody hell I’ve just seen humphries at the darts and I thought it was James vinceIt'll be fine. I just hope the club have ordered enough booze.
Agreed. The game will go on, as we’ve seen with covid. be typical Durham missing out on a money spinner, if there is a problem letting a crowd inMost of the players will have played in similar heat before, so any cancellation would only be for spectators coming from further afield, which would be a bit silly really.
