Is that official?Ireland vs Italy six nations match called off. Wonder just how many of those Italians who’ve booked flights for the match will just come to Dublin for a weekend anyway.

IRFU just refusing to accept it so far

Agree. Now do they move the dates or location, play behind closed doors or abandon the six nations all together.
Just postponed for now though, assuming other fixtures go ahead rearranging them would surely depend on whether it could still affect the Championship. So if France complete the grand slam, Italy's remaining games would presumably be declared 0-0 draws, but if France lose against Scotland or Ireland, both Ireland and England would have an interest in playing the matches.
If Italy can’t complete their fixtures (e.g. because they don’t get the all clear for months and then can’t fit two extra games in the autumn schedule), they should just make it a 5 Nations for this year and remove all Italy fixtures from the table. The current standings would then be

I agree with this option. It's basically been a 5 Nations championship for the last few years anyway.

The foot and mouth tournament we were on for the slam but got beat in Dublin in October. So chance they could play later in the year. We won't be going to Rome a week later than the Ireland game being off.
We've currently got a blank fixture in November against "Tier 2 Nation", so Italy would fit the bill quite nicely if necessary.
The problem is Italy has to fit in 2 games not one, and containment on this is going to be much harder than the foot and mouth crisis because cows can't book easyJet flights to Tenerife on their smartphones

It's bullshit that the Championship so often gets decided by how many points everyone else puts on Italy anyway.

At some point there needs to be a relegation from the six nations. I get the arguments about Italy humped Georgia but Italy haven’t made any progress in 20 years
Get the Pacific Island nations up here to have a Tier 2 championship with the other Noddy countries in Europe, winner plays off with bottom of 6N. Fiji would have a very good chance of getting straight in, and the other three would benefit financially and gradually improve as well. Wouldn't hurt the likes of Georgia, Spain and so on to have more matches against big time opponents either
