Exactly the kind of player we need in there.

We haven't a clue how to transition defence into attack, it seems that some players always play defensively whatever the situation so it looks like there is an invisible forcefield across the halfway line.
Passes backwards, sideways etc.........do you mean keeps possession????
Tidied for you
I am not going to get into a pissing competition with you as to who understands football the most. However, as I alluded to DM certainly divides opinion, this thread probably back this up. I think he’s poor and you rate him. That’s fine that’s what football supporters do. But pack the billy big bollocks patter about not understanding football. You don't understand football. Watch a different sport.
He did it almost entirely from set pieces due to being one of the less small players we have. Wasn’t exactly marauding from cm. whatever suits your agenda
He is our best player.
He was our best player by far V Oxford I don't think he was our worst player by far V Ipswich unless people think otherwise , different posters view him completely differently .While I don’t agree with everything the OP says, I’ve never seen so many people try to claim to have superior football knowledge because they rate Dylan f***ing McGeouch.
He had a good game last week fair enough, but even if his role isn’t to create goals, it’s still pretty shit to have a slow weak footballer in the middle of the pitch who for the vast majority of his time here has contributed nothing to the football club.
If he can play like he did against Oxford then he definitely has a role to play for us, but until he does it consistently then he’s just another League 1 plodder.

Another one using the don’t understand football theory to those that simply don’t rate DM.It's because those that dont, dont understand football on a higher level like those that do. Fact.

He scored about half his goals from open play simply down to having the drive and unselfish running to get into the box.
Mcgeady is and if McGeouch is in the top 5 we are truly fucked.
It’s not difficult to pass the ball, albeit crisply, backwards or sideways at a maximum length of around 10 yards to a teammate. If any pro footballer can’t do that then they have a problem.Well I think you’re completely wrong, I think he is has ability to hold possession and and does not turn possession over cheaply. I’ve watched our back 3/4 turn possession over time and time again against both Oxford and Ipswich yet this lad is always offers an outlet and can retain the ball allowing them to push up the field and get back into position.

Im no fan of Ross. However, with all respect linking Ross and McGeoch in this way is beyond stupid. If ever a footballer epitomises his manager it’s this little fraud. Negative as hell, not a single shot on target in his SAFC career from our midfield dynamo. Slow, no presence, passes backwards and sideways and stops any sort of momentum. I can totally understand why Ross, who knew him so well from Scotland was hell bent on signing him and making him one of the highest paid players this league has ever seen. A negative sick note.
McGeouch divides this board ...... into those who understand football and those who think a defensive playmakers job is to score goals.

Not really, McGeoch sets the tone as an experienced midfielder and his tone is negative. Ross is negative, his style of play is negative. I feel the two are linked, but that’s just my opinion.Im no fan of Ross. However, with all respect linking Ross and McGeoch in this way is beyond stupid.
I think Dobson will be fine, I wouldn't be against him and 09 in CM though I can see Luke being RB again if he reverts back to a four, he might not be a natural there but makes less mistakes than any of the other players at the back. I was hoping Robson would be available more for the CM berth but unfortunately it looks like he is made from the same wet toilet paper as Watmore
I understand a defensive midfielder has to tackle, block and restrict the opposition and set up attacks from the back, which of these things did McGeoch do yesterday? His much heralded passing was all over the place and he found touch more than our own players, he's also slow and weak as piss.
