Durham v Worcestershire (A) C.C.

Well I may as well start this thread as Durham managed to end their run of defeats against Yorkshire. I can't comment too much on that game as I was at the Riverside for half of the first day and after that was only able to follow the scorecard and never saw another ball bowled.
Looking at going into this match the positive is Durham appear to have had the better of the draw. The negative is one possibly two of our seamers has broken down.
Worcestershire appear to be underpowered to compete week in week out with the other counties in this division so far this season so even with the injuries Durham must be positive and go for the win.
As far as the team goes the batting line up probably stays the same. The bowling attack is anyone's guess I think we probably can be confident that only Raine will definitely be in the Durham Xl. Also the comments from Campbell about another overseas pace bowler coming in sounded like they perhaps had that fixed up.
Anyway its been a slow start to the season but personally feel if the weather is kind and the wicket is decent this is a goid chance for a Durham win.

Admire your optimism, I was at the majority of the Yorkshire and Warwickshire games so my confidence levels aren’t as high as yours.

Durham certainly played well against Yorkshire and we were ahead for most of the game. Big hundreds for the skip and perhaps even more significantly Emilio Gay were a major plus. They were superb.

I'd be lying bowever if I said the bowling wasnt a big concern. Ben Raine and Matty Potts have now sent down around 300 overs between them. Injuries to Doggett, Hogg, Coughlan, Conners and anyone else I may have forgotten coupled with the lack of a high quality spin option and Rhodes looking like a player lacking confidence does give cause for concern. Minto, Killeen and Macalindon go into the completely unproven as yet category.
We have yet to bowl out a side for under 300 and in truth dont look like doing so despite being in good positions.
So off to Worcester , down on Friday looking forward to it. Hoping we can turn out a not too battered pace attack but feel we must go big with the bat to give our bowlers a hand .... and our best chance of a win.

Parky is a white ball bowler no variation of pace, guile or flight for red ball and he does really spin or turn it much.

More of a line bowler who undercuts the ball. Mystery to me how despite producing loads of good local pace and swing bowlers.

We have no produced 1 half decent spinner since we have be going.

True but to be fair nor have any of the other counties. Only genuine spinner in that time has been Graeme Swann- and he was born in Newcastle 😀

Can understand it initially as it was such a good pitch for seam bowling, and I defs think there is something in the north east character that lends itself to pace bowling

It does leave a hole in the side it should the difference when we had Patel and Kuhnemann for those few games in our promotion season.

Never known a season like it for injuries to our attack really struggling and the amount of overs Raine & Potts have bowled is a huge concern.

I thought Kuhnemann was mint, lot better than Patel

Always thought we were maybe a bit too quick to get rid of Ben Whitehead, but apart from Borthwick and Pringle for a while we havent had much success with home grown spinners and even then both of them you would class as all batting all rounders

Kuhnemann was class like
