We are making it seem like they have a world class bowling attack?

The allrounder leftie seems canny but the rest...

Jesus.

Some poor captaincy, 4 terrible overs (one borth, one breese, 2 from stokes) and some shocking batting from Muchall, Stoneman & Borthwick has seen us off here.

List their players all you want and say they're crap but you've got to give them some credit. They were the first team to qualify for the quarters, finished top of their group and only Hampshire won more games. I think people need to get a bit of a grip here.

To get to the Quarter Finals is admirable given our resources, but why do Borthwick and Muchall bat above Stokes, Collingwood and Breese in a situation like that? Granted Muchall has been decent this season, but tonight he never looked strong enough to clear the fence.

Breese was just the kind of lad to come in early here and play it around a bit. Someone mentioned earlier that we have no batsmen who can use the pace of the ball and work it around but Breese is that man. Maybe even Colly too. Both capable of nice little paddles and late cut shots - it's not all about the heave over cow corner.

Still, it was shit bowling from the second half of their innings what fucked us.

It hurts to get so close to finals day only to fail to turn up in the Quarter Final. I bet no other QF will be as one-sided. I'm sure I'm not the only one blinded by hope and belief that the omens were good as we'd hit a rich vein of form.

Well, time to be philosophical - we can concentrate on some proper cricket now. Surrey at home in a fortnight 8-)

Our openers cost us tonight. Rocky's been in shite form for weeks now and shouldn't have started if we had an alternative. Borthwick? Canny stroke player but not the man at 3 to score 9 per over.

We need to look at our line up, if Stokes had the balls these two wasted early on we'd have been in with a chance. These guys are just hampering our progression.

To think we'll lose Breese next year yet keep Smith, Muchall, Benks and Colly (fitness doubts)

Beaten fair and square by the better side who used home advantage very well. Durham rely to heavily on 2 or 3 individual players to win them t/20 matches which is probably why they have lost as many as they have won.
The batting somehow needs to be improved, Stoneman has the range of shots to succeed at the top of the order but has not looked in much nick in this seasons event. Not sure about Borthwick at 3 in this form of the game. Other than Mustard Stokes is so far ahead of the rest that he is needed at the start of the innings for the power play but we have nobody to get close to what he has achieved this season as the finisher.
Breese has done well and is an excellent character. The other who has impressed me in all forms of the one day game this season is Ryan Pringle. Benkenstein made a point of talking up this lad at the start of the season and although his stats may not be outstanding he looks like he could be a very handy cricketer for Durham. Rushworth also appears to be getting better in all forms of the game and has become so reliable for Durham that it gets to the stage we just take it for granted the lad will perform.

I disagree. It was about 30 runs in the end which to me equates to the few overs White went crazy. IMO it was bad captaincy in the first half. Bringing Borthwick on to bowl in the 18th over with White going strong was suicide, and even though Colly himself only went for 5 in that first over, it should really have gone for 15.

Add to this about 10 free runs in byes/wides etc which are very avoidable.

I actually thought Durham made a decent total, we just bowled poorly to allow them 30 too many.

Am working in Milton Keynes for a couple of weeks, so went to watch last night. Good atmosphere locals quite friendly. At half time thought we were still in with a shout as batting had looked so easy. In mitigation for our batters, temperature dropped quite a bit during the interval don't know if that affected the pitch. Rocky and Scotty out of their depth, thought Stokes should have gone in 3 or 4. Cannot complain we were well beaten . Rather rustic ground, and to put it into football terms, I thought we had been well and truly done over by a lower league side.

No chance.

It was down to bowling and theirs being better than ours.
