Durham v Middx (a) RL cup.

No not singling him out but one of the batsmen who got a start had to go on and bat through those vital middle overs which they didn't do. Clark and Lees did it in the first match and the score was huge. I know he can't do it every game but if they want to make those big scores and bat the other team out of the match normally at least one had to go on and get that score.
As far as Bancroft goes he is just out of form or is not the player he was 2 summers ago.
Couldnt agree more. Highlighted also by their innings, two lads on 70 and 60 get out stupidly when they didn’t need to take risks and they fall apart from a comfortable position.

What really annoys me is the amount of getting caught in the deep, pointless slogs basically. Especially in 50 over cricket, between overs 10 and 40 orso, you only need to go at 5-6 an over to get to a very competitive score (if you have a good start and end) and that should be achievable without having to slog

The two wickets before the rain came won us the game as it changed the D/L equation in our favour.

We made hard work of it but ultimately the target was too much for Middlesex. 5 points out of 6 is a great start and would be good to salvage something positive out of this season. Given ourselves a great chance of qualifying.

Definitely his main job in T20 and the 50 over is to make the most of those opening power plays overs but after that early onslaught I honestly believe he is good enough to lower the gears and knock it about. He is more than just a pinch hitter in my opinion.
Definitely, on what we’ve seen so far I think his game is much more suited to 50 over than 20.

Bancroft averages this season, below. Not what you expect from your overseas.

The Aussie season starts 11th Sept so presumably Bancroft won't be available to Durham for any of the 4 final CC games. Opportunity to replace him with a hopefully more productive overseas.

Do you think that DCCC will bother to replace him? The 4 games are effectively dead rubbers. Might be a good opportunity to give others some red ball experience? Bancroft has been disappointing, like

He's been well off his 2019 form. I was worried when he got embroiled in all that ball tampering stuff at the start of the season that it could affect his form.
