we'll see this season i guess, unless lewis is wanking in teh corner anarl.

TBF who would you pick out of the squad we have ahead of him? we are right up shit creek with our top 7 like, one injury and rami is in, two injuries and we become a snake[DOUBLEPOST=1395313971][/DOUBLEPOST]

richardson is a full time batsman, poynter is the wicketkeeper for the 2nds. im sure if mustard is injured [or when he wants a bowl] richardson will be gloves

Out of that squad I'd just go with a couple of the young'ens. Then if
brandon said it was streamed, not sure where though, will check closer to the time [or come on here begging]

By streamed I meant a radio stream. Available on the BBC website, Live Event 12 on TuneIn Radio app and on 5Live Sports Extra inbetween and either side of World T20 game coverage.

Wish it was televised, I'm off graft all next week

re: muchall you would put two out of singh/poynter/coughlin in our top 6? can't see a way we can play without him atm, espeically this time out with collingwood missing. im sure muchall will miss out when stokes plays but otherwise he is a shoe in IMO, unless singh/coughlin/clark come on in leaps & bounds..[DOUBLEPOST=1395349459][/DOUBLEPOST]
I have to say I still think this game should be played at our "Home of Cricket"

aye anar. missus got right into cricket some time back, still not taken her to lords, really fancied doing it at a season opener but first chance was teh first year of abu dabi. then it came back to lords the one time we weren't playing in it and now its back over there!

I would aye. With the emphasis on I. Which is because it's well known I'm not keen on him but furthermore, from a cricket point of view and with a view to the future - I'd rather blood a young'un and see what he can do in a meaningless fixture than a bloke who has been around for ages whom you already know what he's capable of.

I know what you mean, but at teh same time muchall, no one infact, will have played a competitive fixture with each other since last season so perhaps in this meaningless fixture its best to let them all find their feet. we could be right up against it this year so need to get off on the right foot. as i said above i'd love to see a coughlin or a singh come into the side and blast off and start scoring runs straight away but its pretty unlikely so maybe best to just let muchall get on with it as we may be up shit creek without him.

anyone know if singh is the type of player to get into a one day team? i guess regardless of his batting style this is where he will be blooded, this year or next. hope to see him this year a bit and see some promise in him.

Singh will not play.
Team: Stoneman, Jennings, Borthwick, Richardson, Muchall, Mustard, Pringle, Arshad, Wood, Onions, Rushworth.

I'd go with this, we need to spinners you would think on these pitches, would like to see what Pringle has got in this format. Although buckley is an option, is he highly rated this lad? 5 on debut but used sparingly.

buckley was being introduced into the 4 day side whilst pringle was being introduced into the one day side, i had thought pringle was a bit more of a batsman than buckley but having only 70 runs in 11 innings maybe i'm wrong, perhaps he's just a clubber, or maybe he's just not got a score yet, still only early days.

Marty doing well to get out there

Might not pay my licence fee ;)

Pringle has been a lot more prolific in the second XI. Hasn't had much chance to build an innings when he's come in for first team but usually bats at 4 I believe. Certainly he and Arshad have batted in the middle order in the seconds and Lewis said that was the latter's long term future at the club.[DOUBLEPOST=1395414618][/DOUBLEPOST]

Buckley perceived to be the better bowler but nowhere near Pringle with the bat. Suspect Pringle will play more games in the Championship in the general mess of all rounders we'll have in middle order this year, especially at home where we rarely need a specialist spinner.

To be fair, imagine how many co-commentators and hangers on the BEEB would send out if the Community Shield was played out there?

Always makes me laugh how they seem to think they need two commentators plus a co commentator and a panel in the studio for a single football match while Marty does a 4 day county game on his Todd a lot of the time. I hope I can get this on tunein radio and no doubt Marty will be great entertainment as always.

Seems to be a little bit of negativity around the start to the season at Durham. Reminds me of last season;)

sounds good. we need anyone who can hold a bat atm. arshad looked very very capable with the bat down at hove, think he will start of at 8 this year but if he can step into stokes' number 6 spot that would be great, or pringle at 6 and arshad at 8, whichever way round would be grand.

also as you say we don't need a real front line spinner, two all rounders who can really hold a bat but both turn it, one to off and one to leg is pretty useful and lets us go with our real ace card - the quicks, and we ceertainly have plenty of firepower there.

As per the last test match England played Durham currently have Englands first choice spinner in the team. He was not selected for that test match as a bating all rounder but as a front line spinner. Without Stokes Durham won't have the luxury of playing an extra spinner and still retain 4 front line seamers unless Arshad is good enough to bat in the top 7 or they use Jennings as a 4th seamer (looked a fair bit short of that last season)

not strictly true, as alot of people are championing mustard pushed up the order to 6 then number 7 would be arshad or pringle.

im not necessarily for it, as i think there are too many question marks surrounding.. well, basically every one in our batting line up but i can see why people above had suggested Stoneman, Jennings, Borthwick, Richardson, Muchall, Mustard, Pringle, Arshad, Wood, Onions, Rushworth.

if the lads are batting well and look in touch and pringle, arshad, wood look capable of getting lower order runs then bring collingwood in for muchall, giving us another bowling option if we need it [7/8 including jennings options, not really necessary like] or if not then bring collingwood in for pringle and move mustard back to 7.

this all assume muchall is a better option with the bat than a bowler mind ;)

going on his career averages maybe richardson should start keeping wicket and mustard could be a bat/spin all rounder anarl :lol:

Stoneman
Jennings
Borthwick/Mustard (if/when SB away with England on 12th man duty)
Mustard/Muchall (GM moved up if PM moved up)
Stokes/Singh
Muchall/Wood
Richardson/Wood
Pringle
Arshad
Onions
Rushworth

Wood could easily drop in for either GM or MR depending on needs; Singh offers a part time spin option to aswell.

What's the crack with Much? Do his teaching commitments allow him to play four day cricket?
He'll have a contract that will specify certain things I would imagine and playing for durham will be one of them. He'll not be full time there. I know that and for example Killeen has also been doing sessions at durham school.

i don't have the benefit of second XI career stats but going off their appearances for the first XI it would seem mad to have arshad that low with wood & pringle ahead of him.

did i just hear coughlin is playing? and harrison? managed to more or less miss him reading out the teams [DOUBLEPOST=1395570317][/DOUBLEPOST]Day 1Current time 14:24 local, 10:24 GMT | Match begins in: 0:06
