Gay and Bedingham rightly get the plaudits but I don't get the criticism of McKinney. For ages the criticism of him was he was too attacking to open, but he batted time nicely, ate up most of the morning session which is exactly what an opener should have done in those circumstances.

I always think it great for red ball cricket to see teams have a deficit after first innings and fight back.

And it’s also massively great to see positive results and great for the game to see a side attack a fourth innings chase.
