Durham v Kent (h) C.C. ( 3/4/26)

England just told him to 'Bang it in Matty'. He's a lot better than that. Arguably similar happened to Carse.
They do it to them all which is why so many get injured, they're trying to make these lads change into something they can't be instead of focussing on what they are already good at. I've been consistent on here with my criticism on how England manage fast bowlers, they literally ruin them and I was wary a year ago they were messing Potts about, they do this with so many. The best thing for Matty Potts right now is playing every game for Durham. Whilst I appreciate Durham I feel have issues themselves keeping fast bowlers fit, we will ensure the bowlers utilise their best ability unlike England who forever want to change bowlers to suit England. It's madness

England have ruined quite a few of our bowlers historically.
Yup. They've done it to so so many. - those different things Potts says he was trying to find, I blame England for and I'd hazard a guess that what Campbell is alluding to also in this article. He needs to get back to doing what he does best and England need to understand that

The quality of cricket writing has severely fallen off a cliff…

If I remember correctly they tried to change Jimmy Anderson's action and the wickets dried up when he complied for a while, he took the decision to go back to his original action and the rest as they say is history

Absolutely freezing cold again today, despite the sun shining. Still very windy too even though the forecast was for the storm to have already passed through.

Echo @wayne entwhistle no9’s sentiments, we should be able to add 220-250 in the first two sessions without too much difficulty leaving us 4 sessions to bowl them out with our lead up beyond 450.

Our bowling attack already looks to be a big upgrade on last term too, Aldridge looks a player. Raine was pretty much a one man band last year and most opponents in this Division will have decent new ball men but very little thereafter. For us to have four seamers posing a threat, with plenty of talent in reserve gives me a lot of confidence that we’ll be alright this year.

Not so sure about"plenty of talent in reserve🤔

I’m looking at it from a fourth seamer perspective, I heard an interview last week on a podcast (I forget which and I forget who it was 🤦‍♂️) where they spoke about the main difference between Division One and Two being bowling depth. Everyone has good openers and usually a decent first change, but the fourth seamer spot can be a real weakness.

If we are to assume that Potts, Roach and Raine are our numbers 1, 2 and 3 in any given order. I do honestly feel we have very good depth and a lot of talent waiting in the wings to occupy the fourth seamer spot. Aldridge has been impressive in this game as that man, if this small sample size is anything to go by I’m confident he could be the 3 if we need him to be. Whilst the likes of Minto, Bailey and even Rhodes (at this level) could prove to be useful. I’m particularly excited by Minto given what I saw from him for the U19’s. That’s before we think about Conners, Hogg and Robinson. I know the club rate those highly, but obviously their best ability perhaps would be availability and as we know they haven’t yet shown they have that.

I think for many, this drop to Division One could act as a reset (thinking particularly about Potts) and/or a launchpad (specifically the young lads). We know they’re not a Division One calibre attack, but given the club’s ambition is to go straight back up, creating that level of attack has to be the aim.

Following Storm Dave hitting the North East in the early hours of Sunday morning, damage has been caused within the venue – therefore there will be no spectators permitted into the ground until further notice.

Just read the email, unfortunate, but safety is paramount.

Bloody hell. Wouldn’t put it past the umpires to abandon play for the day on those grounds

Would’ve been good to have a clue as to WHY play won’t start on time. The storm has passed, so what’s the chuffing issue?
