Durham v Kent (h) C.C. ( 3/4/26)

Yeah I deliberately used the word young. Until about a decade ago DCCC was all about giving youth its head.

Now it’s mainly the 50 over cup.
Exactly. It's not a case of if we had the players good enough, its a case of why haven't we players good enough. We won the championship with a team of academy products, we produced several England Internationals yet now none are coming through. The supply chain from local clubs hasn't changed. There's clearly something amiss nowadays in the Academy. That can't be denied

Umpires literally couldn’t get their fingers up quick enough in our innings. That’s three that all looked perfectly adjacent.
Off for bad light with 9 balls remaining, that’s an absolute joke. It’s high time the club did something about this and put in a formal complaint.
Not a cloud in the sky.

Something not right about these umpires.
AHH the old something not right agenda against Durham

Only got to watch half the days play on YouTube but looks like Durham tail got us to a decent score. Personally thought Kents bowling was poor on that pitch.

I wasn’t impressed by their bowling at all, which makes it all the more frustrating that we’ve been bowled out inside 80 overs.

Frustrating again at the end, because if McKinney holds onto that sitter we’ve got them 28-3. Added to that, there were three lbw appeals which all looked much closer to being out than both McKinney and Robinson’s decisions.

Kent must feel like their luck has been well and truly in today.

That said, despite it not being our best work, we’ll go into tomorrow in an advantageous position. We’re one good session away from ensuring a sizeable first innings lead.

Robinson one was out if you take your Durham specs off

Not the best of days for Durham but certainly not the worst. Some of our batting was just like last season but fortunately Gay held the innings together with an excellent knock. If we had won the toss and put Kent into bat then I would not be happy about them scoring 335. Hopefully we can take some early wickets tomorrow morning, put the skids under Kent, bat again tomorrow, get a good lead, skittle them out and notch the first win of the season. Anyway whatever happens it will be fecking freezing again.

It's a bit daft yeh but we need to stop the umpires against Durham stuff that decision was fair enough
You know my view. I've said for years the standard is just shit across the board. That bad light decision this afternoon up there with one of the worst decisions I've seen. I just think the standard is very poor all round.
