Durham t20 v northants Wednesday

I wonder why Sunderland University students seem not to have been invited to this ‘North East Invades’ event.

Likewise Teesside... Ironically the two best behaved universities in the region when it comes to cases. Both universities will call it a blessing they weren't as that last night doesn't reflect well on any of the uni's or the cricket club

Apart from the puzzle that the game was sold out weeks ago, Durham were very coy and quiet about it all which makes me wonder if some in the club had their doubts about it. Some advance notification, explanation and justification to members and regular supporters might have helped.
We wouldn't have gone had we known what was intended. Once their it was apparent it was an absolute shambles but nephew wanted to stay, though eventually we all agreed to leave and quite a lot of people were leaving early. We were back in Penshaw/Washington before the game ended.

INVADES has an exclusive stand for the event which is only accessible for our customers. - aye fuck the members
I like the bit at the end **If there is a change in Covid 19 restrictions, this will go ahead but with social distancing measures in place**

Well the grand reopening of the country was postponed on June 21 so it was nice to see all the students observing the social distancing measures that are still in place.🤔

Best off out of it - same as the people with an interest in cricket who couldn't get tickets for this game.

Club will have made a bit dosh from the game but have scored a massive own goal as far as the goodwill of the loyal members is concerned.

Yes, the fact that seating restrictions was only announced hours before the start was very disrespectful to members.

How did it impact on your enjoyment? Other than the dismal stuff on the field I mean.

Wish I’d thought to check this forum before going. We’ve got T20 season tickets and the bairn was itching to go again.

Fortunately I’d seen the message about gate 5 being shut and that the two stands were reserved, plus the bairn wanted to try the pavilion. Didn’t know the full reasons for the closures until I looked on Twitter after the game.

Can’t add much more to what’s already been said other than the stewards clearly had a thankless task, and the bairn (7) was a bit upset with the noise (though as I pointed out to her, was no different to a day out at the SoL or Molineux, just with a lack of variety in the chants).

We left 12 overs into the chase as it was clearly a lost cause and didn’t want to spend an hour in traffic on a school night. Hasn’t put her off going to the season finale at least.

1st - not being able to sit where we wanted and where we always sit despite the whole upper tier being empty. we find the view up top to be much better and the wife in T20 feels safer up their with the ball flying all over

2nd - social distancing where we were wasn't great but i don't blame the public for that

3rd - had to walk further for food and a piss. they wouldn't allow us through to use the food/drink stalls on the county durham stand

4th - they were very distracting, some near us screaming at the players for no reason, not pleasant and you could tell Stokes and Potts were pissed off with them

5th - we had to walk further as gate 5 was closed and we were unable to cut through

6th - when we then asked if we could adhere to the clubs tannoy request (social distancing) by moving up top or to the end of the blue seat trapdoor stand which had several empty blocks, we were told no

7th - their range of songs were also shit but i guess can't do much about that but they were distracting and the stand looked a mess with rubbish all over (maybe I care too much but it's not difficult to put shit in the bin is it?)

we left early and i know many including some on here left far earlier than me. one lad i know left after 5 overs.

bit of a shame genuine regular fans couldn't get a ticket last night.

hopefully the next time the club intend to host a student piss up party, they tell us and I'll not bother going and give my ticket away if necessary

I've also emailed both Bostock and Dawson regarding the matter.
I sent off an email to Gordon’s link and received a really good reply from Tim - won’t post the full reply but suffice to say he knows they made a mistake and he apologies profusely - ends the reply by saying ‘we got it wrong and for that I apologise’
