Durham’s Next Boss

Depends on what Nixon's brief is 🤔 Going back in history Geoff Cooks teams struggled in the early days. The catalysts in my opinion was David Boon and the experience gained by the younger players. He can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear .
This team feels similar in that there's some nice pieces to it, some young and talented lads coming through, just needs one or two forceful characters, some more experience and a great captain to galvanise everything. Although losing the likes of Potts and lees to England this year has hurt

I wasn’t talking about overall. My specific point is about the Championship.

I think it's a bit unfair to judge him on cc results when they as a club have almost certainly focussed on white ball cricket.

Meanwhile lord only knows what our objectives were for this season but we've been horrendous in all formats, barring the first few days of the season

You can be more focused on other formats and still win games in the 4 day like it's a cheap excuse

I was making a specific point about proper cricket. I haven’t given an opinion on his white ball capabilities, so it isn’t unfair at all.

Not many people throwing names about here.....
I suspect Leicester have won alot more games than us this season overall
They won 6/8 in the one day cup, we won 1/8. They won 8/14 in the T20, we won 3/14. They haven't won a game in the county championship, we've won one.

Can we say we were focused on white ball last season so no blame for Franklin for red ball

Interesting take

Mind that’s the logic that some apply, so why not 🤷‍♂️
Have a like for 'proper cricket'
Those that know, know ;)

They failed to qualify for the latter stages of the One Day Cup and T20, just like us.

They will succeeded however in winning something in the Championship. They’ll win the wooden spoon again.

They were 62 points behind us before this game began and 30 adrift of Sussex in second bottom. It’s not just ‘wins’ that are important in proper cricket. Team with the most POINTS that wins the title, not the team with the most wins.

Michael Di Venuto for me.

OR

Dale Benkenstein.

I’d suggest Colly but he’s got a gig with England currently and he isn’t going to leave that for us.

Also why Benks given how Gloucestershire are doing?

I dunno. It depends on what he wants of course but there is an option of building a coaching CV and after a successful time at Durham maybe an England coach position could become possible down the line.

He’s got an England coach position now. Or do you mean Head Coach?

We're unlikely to get Benkenstein.

He's in his first year of a 3 year contract at Gloucestershire so we'd have to pay some compo to get him.

The main objective is displayed inside the changing room above the door to the field. It says “Win Division Two”. This was visible in the recent Stokes programme.
