Durham’s Next Boss

We'have, and continue to have,an outstanding academy with currently 4 players in the U19 England side.Little point in that if they're blocked from progressing to the 1st team.

Tell me, how many academy prospects have made their first XI debut this season…?

I have. Semantics.

Not semantics at all, it’s completely misrepresenting what I said. The key word you seem to have overlooked being ‘recruitment’.

3, Macintosh,Maclindon,Gibson with an aggregate of 7 appearances in the CC and only for injured players who were immediately restored when regained fitness. A total of 7 appearances encouraging a youth policy?
Fair enough if you haven't got a clue about recruitment for an HC.
Hint. Look at their c.v. and references

I doubt I’ll get the opportunity given that I’m not likely to be on the selection panel. If I do get the opportunity though, I doubt I’ll rely on a character witness from some bloke who watches Leicestershire home and away. Suspect he’s just another jumper scrounger…

I took the data from cricket archive's current stats for Durham.
Doubt if Durham have a selection panel but when thinking the merits of a suitable candidate purely as a supporter I'd certainly respect the views of a regular at another county.

Which is strange given you missed one who made his debut before the first two you mentioned. Perhaps it isn’t a very reliable source.

The answer is 5, by the way.

Which I think is pretty impressive. Still won’t stop folk trying to rewrite history though.

I make it 4 thought Bushnell had appeared last year who's averaging 50 in the CC yet gets dropped. must be encouraging for the lad.So a total of 10 appearances between 4 players. If you're impressed by that fair enough, it's a purely subjective view. As are all opinions expressed on here.
Liked to know who the 5th player is. Might exceed the dizzy total of 10 appearances.

Mitch Killeen in the RL50

It's been a pretty decent year for our academy tbf. Doneathy went backwards a bit but good progress by a teams worth of players with trevaskis and Mackintosh establishing themselves, Bushnell, Gibson, killeen, macalindon getting a good few appearances and macalindon, Whitfield and McKinney (captaining) representing England u19s

Big improvement in the second half of the season, alot of the selections were enforced on us but the young players have stood up and been counted which was great to see

Got to agree that the academy continues to do an excellent job, Macintosh and Bushnell in particular have excelled. As you say though, just about all have been promoted as a last resort.Robinson was brought in in preference to Macintosh. Bushnell was excluded when averaging 50 for Dickson or Maddinson both of whom are leaving. What sort of message is this giving to youngsters?

Whilst a change in management is much needed and indeed welcomed. There are other massive issues at the club that need to be addressed in order for us to move forward. I am also of the opinion that North should be relieved of his duties.

Similar to Sunderland there is also this nagging feeling that the club looks to be penny pinching and underfunded in key areas. I haven’t been to the ground since the start of the season but back in April it was a proper shit hole and the club shop was shut.

We’re light years away from where we were 10 years ago.

It’s 5*. Whether you ‘count’ it or not, what I said was factually correct.

Funny how you’re being argumentative with me about it, yet agree competely with what @Twisted said despite him banging the same drum as me.

*Bushnell, Mackintosh, MacAlindon, Gibson, Killeen.
This from someone who watches Leicestershre home and away. I know whose opinion I'll stick by. "Nico is a true club legend who is Leicesteshire through and through and a born winner who never gives up.Since being at Leicesteshire as coach when he came in 2018 he has had to work with a very limited budget therefore taking risks signing mediocre players and trying to get the best out of them with varied results. He should never be judged on results at Leicesteshire or any lack of success in his time as head coach at the club.He installs belief and confidence into the team and the players and I hope he's at the club for many years to come yet as I don't believe anyone would do better with the club's resources and he will eventually deliver success to the club"

Pulled direct from ‘County Cricket Matters’ Facebook page, where you’d gone to find allies

I won’t link the page, I’ll only get reported

Correct

I asked the question. The first reply on their is a fella who goes to every game, I value his opinion highly, he's one of the best posters on that group hence I asked as I'd knew I'd get a fair and balanced reply.

I'll trust the judgement of Leicestershire fans who go out and watch their team.

In fairness mackintosh was not looking like he'd excel as he has (that's based on seconds scorecards mind, not watching) so it's understandable that if the club saw a way of minimising risk and giving us a potential star player for that format I think it's understandable. The lad scored 200* or something a week or two after leaving us!

I hope it’s someone else, simply because I get the impression Killer does a good job with the bowlers and you wouldn’t want to lose that positive in the long run.
Really? What gives you that impression? I’m not convinced the bowlers would agree.

*Bushnell, Mackintosh, MacAlindon, Gibson,
I'm not intending to be argumentative with anyone. I'm contributing to a discussion about a new coach which you yourself initiated. I readily accepted the Bushnell omission. I believe the club has regressed under the recent coach and director; clearly you don't. I don't have the slightest issue with that.
