Drinking in Sunderland City Centre - restored

queueing up to get in the botanist

some lads will do owt to placate their lasses

2 drinks, just shy of £20

"keep the change"

Was there a queue to get in?
Too long to get served at the bar so I gave it a miss.
Nice place though.
Busiest I've seen the town on a non match day for years.

We were in the Botanist about 4.30-5 and saw people turned away, dunno if that was cos they wanted food though. Missus much prefers it to the KT, but KT drinks selection is way way better for me.

Empire end of town was absolutely rammed about 6pm yesterday. We ended up doubling back and heading to Fitzies.
Before that we were in The Cooper Rose. It serves a purpose but it is depressing.
Wouldn’t say the Cooper is depressing, but the service is starting to piss us off on matchdays. There’s times when there’s a lull in how busy the bar is and you can still be stood ages while the staff piss about taking ages or all grouped down the far end of the bar chatting away not realising (or ignoring) there’s people stood further up waiting to be served. We’d go somewhere else but it’s canny ideal for our group size and they do have a good selection on tap.

Aye could try it like. One of the lads usually orders himself some bait that way, never thought about it for our rounds but might be worth a go if the service continues. Frustrating thing is it must be one of the bars that have the most staff working in the town.

Gunners in comparison has about 2 people behind that little bar and they’re always on their game.

Sign of shite management. They’re in the customer service industry and they should be trained to serve customers first. So many places with poor service culture where the staff hide behind the bar, in the kitchen or anywhere they can avoid doing the core function of their job. Easily fixed Wilburn management ensure the right focus is applied.

I remember some years ago in Cooper Rose I was standing at the bar 11:30am on a Saturday to meet a mate who had travelled up for a match from Manchester.

I was the only one at the bar and the barmaid asked me who was next!!

Before the recent skunks match my mate ordered some drinks on the Wetherspoons app after an hour when they didn't we left.

He went in the next day to query it and was met with a shrug of the shoulders!
