Having worked in debt collection, there's a balance to be drawn. Some debtors are absolute arseholes who will do anything to get out of paying. Some bailiffs and collectors are arseholes who will use any trick going to make sure they get their EOM bonus.
 
I think Channel Five have pretty much given up on this show (and all the other 'poverty porn' series they used to churn out), and have been trying for a more upmarket demographic recently. I heard they had a fair bit of legal trouble from people filmed in the last series of CPWTIA (quite rightly, I wouldn't want these tw*ts filming in my house) and there were delays getting the episodes to air.

This. OP up to his eyeballs imo. And from what I've seen of the show, they're not smug at all. Just know the law a lot more than the pricks who don't pay their bills.

I used to get threatened with all sorts from people at the door. I would give them the option to calm down but if they kept on with the abuse the Police would be called.
Amazingly they would always calm down and deny making threats when the officers turned up.
These people have had numerous letters sent to them and an invite to court, yet always know nothing about it.
It would be very very rare that it would reach the Bailiff stage if you genuinely couldnt affoard to pay anything
 
By and large its the people in the houses that are the horrible fcukers not the blokes coming to get it. They’re not all multi nationals on the other end of the non payments they are often normal people trying to make a living from a small business. The skanky kernts should pay up
 
Used to enjoy this. Some of the people on it who thought they could get away with not paying is amazing.

The odd story isn’t really fair on the people who owe the debt. But a lot of the time they head in sand it.

Channel 5 seems to have relaxed this with brits in the sun and a program about a money lending shop. Which could well be a prequel to can’t pay.

BBC do a similar program called sheriffs or something.
