Donald threatened legal action didn't he? It just went quiet which suggests they didn't have enough to stand the article up. The cynic in my always thinks these things are sorted out with a quick phone call and dibs on a transfer exclusive to help dampen things down a little.

I was told from a good source both have been fond of a little legal action

Surely if you simply run out of money you can’t continue as a business ? We’ve ran out out and I don’t see anyone giving us much in the way of credit to pay for us to run the club. It’s looking like the FFP loan is being used to see the season out. That doesn’t bode well for next season.

Not really. There are plenty of credit facilities available to a football club, and plenty of ways around not paying for this, etc, at least in the short term. A lot more complicated than people on here generally give it credit for

Well why didnt they.
To me (and I presume others) he hasn't done much wrong. And that statement certainly doesnt convince me.
And the bleatings on here about our skinflint owners makes me despair and realise that a lot of our supporters don't want us to live in our means, but just want someone to bank roll us.

I'm just confused by our fans and by the fanzines tbh.
They need to think about future relationships with future owners

What if you thibk the current group are fragmenting the squad/team at a crucial time.
I mean, who the fuck in their right mind would want to join us now.
I honestly can't understand why they couldn't have waited till the end of the transfer window, unless they have more info, which they need to share to convince me the current regime have to go, 6 months after we were all relatively ok with the situation.
We're not even giving him a transfer window to sort out the team, and as I said, the statement has reduced the likely hood of that happening further!

i’d be surprised if they jointly don’t know a lot more about what’s been going on behind the scenes, but rightly won’t put in public domain (1 because it wouldn't be professional to do so and 2 the threat of potential legal action)

i think we can individually agree or disagree with the joint statement, but they are only doing what they jointly feel is right to do at this point in time - credit to them for doing something imo

As we and a few other clubs, know all too well, you can't force owners out.

He owns SAFC, it's his property. He can't be forced to sell.

Even if a potential new buyer appeared today, with sufficient money to satisfy SD's expectations, you would expect at least 3 months to get a deal done. Nobody is going to touch SAFC without completing some extensive Due Diligence. If SAFC are still in the lower half of League 1, who would pay the £40 - £50 million DS seems to want?

All you can do, is hope you have a successful January window and you can push for the play offs.
It's already been been done if it was FPP

I thought he'd done wonders financially?
Last season he spent adequately for a team in league one.
At the end of the season you'd think JR would have told him what we needed, it was in hindsight a disastrous window.

We've not had one since. At the beginning of the season, bookies, fans and the owners thought we had enough to win the league. We now know this isnt the case.
We're not letting anyone resolve the situation by demanding this before the window opens.
And as said, who would join us now?

It’s getting a bit tedious seeing this line about ‘hindsight’ being trotted out and from other quarters that ‘we were all fooled’.

Truth is, plenty weren’t willing to get carried away with nice deeds and podcasts. Plenty expressed concern about players being sold (despite being told they wouldn’t have to be) and replaced with very iffy replacements. Plenty could see that the squad we assembled was a rag-tag bunch that at best would produce workmanlike performances to churn out results. It was clear as day we weren’t building for a long term future as had been claimed in podcasts.

When does it end? When will we be happy? I know this isn't the time but it just seems no matter what there is always discontent with the fans.

PP must go and I hope SD find us a better owner but how long will it be until we run them out of town too? Only managers I remember since the SOL opened not being openly booed out are Keane and Big Sam. The rest are hassled after 10 bad games. Again this isn't the time seemingly but at some point soon we need stability.
And you think any other clubs fans would be any different after 2 relegations in 3 years & still dropping?

There are too many people jumping in with this because they think it's FPP that will take us over, like it's a done deal once Donald leaves.

It's far from it, more worrying times ahead.

Whilst I am all for new ownership and I was against these owning the football club from the start, this now has a sense of when SD and the other fella came in, it was like a movement and god forbid anyone who went against it. A lot of the very same people have done an extreme Volte Face when it was obvious from the start that they were completely out of their depth.

The problem I have with the joint statement is it's only a few months ago the same lads were queuing up to lick Donald's hoop. Now they want him out him to sell up asap.

Whatever your opinion on Donald he's never made out he's had bags of cash to throw at the situation.

Unless these outlets have information there is a credible buyer waiting in the wings the statement is irresponsible and reckless in the extreme.

It might not be a popular opinion but there are far worse potential owners out there than Donald. If he was to sell up in a hurry it could well do a lot more damage.

If the fans stop going he will have no option but to sell, otherwise he will bankrupt himself. No way the club is worth 40/50 million now, not even to Tesco if they wanted to build a new supermarket.

I’ve been told something very similar mate. I really hope I’m right on this, but I honestly believe we will finally bottom out tomorrow. Parky will go and Donald/Juan will be either forced to release funds or they will be forced out
it was it reiver who told you this?

I personally think don and charlie have made them look like fools and this is justified payback!

I agree. I'm sure they feel better for issuing the statement.

Equally if they think pressuring Donald into resurrecting the Mark Campbell deal is the way forward they are being even bigger fools.
