When I worked in a bookies in Wetherby him and Seth Johnson came in a bit. Nice bloke, seemed really shy for a footballer. Leeds fans used to love him. Hope he gets well soon

Didn’t we play him and he wasn’t registered?.
Yep, and luckily we only got fined for playing an unregistered player. If we'd have been deducted a point we'd have got relegated that season as I'm sure we only stopped up on goal difference that season. I may be wrong like.

I was going to bring this up but thought it might've been insensitive

Nowt insensitive about it. Unfortunately it was his most famous moment in a Sunderland shirt. It goes without saying that we all hope he recovers from his brain op.

V Barnsley away he left his registration papers on the train

Same game Bret Angel had a goal chalked off from a throw in
Yep spot on Hank. Was at the game think it was a Friday night and we lost. Think Peter Reid came in shortly after as we were staring relegation in the face.
The duststorm game
Yes it was horrendous. We were behind goal and there was work getting done on the new stand and the wind and sand was blowing into our faces the whole game. Oh and we lost.

How is it I can recall games from nearly 30 years agan but not last week

Age/alcohol, I'm the same. I can recall details of certain things 20 or 30 years ago, but ask me something of two/three seasons ago and I'd probably struggle.

Hope Matteo makes a full and speedy recovery.
