If it was as easy as looking at Sweden and saying herd immunity "works" then every country would put a stop to the restrictions they have.Indeed but it proves the point that this is not the highly deadly virus that we were originally told it was and in fact if Sweden had managed to keep it out of the care homes their figures would be reduced by about 60% IMSC. As it is they seem to be achieving herd immunity & can crack on with their lives supporting the economy whilst most of Europe returns to turmoil.
And yet France have fans in the ground and we a scrimping about with only 5 other people allowed
It proves the point that when you look at countries with similar populations and weat her, Sweden has made a big mistake.Indeed but it proves the point that this is not the highly deadly virus that we were originally told it was and in fact if Sweden had managed to keep it out of the care homes their figures would be reduced by about 60% IMSC. Got to admit, it's strange when you see people praising Sweden's approach and using it as some sort of proof the lock down was the wrong way to go when they have failed miserably compared to every similar population country. It proves the point that when you look at countries with similar populations and weat her, Sweden has made a big mistake.

Do you not think it can be a bit more complicated than you are making it out to be?
I've not met one person in "real life" who is worried about COVID at all...the panic is with the media, TV & online, and from what i access this forum. In person, nobody is hysterical at all.Is there as much panic about rising cases around europe as there is here?

Well we can’t say that Sweden have failed miserably yet can we? Who knows how long this pandemic will last, it could still be early days. Lockdowns can’t go on forever. Sweden’s numbers may reduce as time goes on due to more of the population being exposed whilst other countries numbers rise. There’s no guarantee of a successful vaccine.Got to admit, it's strange when you see people praising Sweden's approach and using it as some sort of proof the lock down was the wrong way to go when they have failed miserably compared to every similar population country.
Using that logic you can't criticise any Governments handling of it until it's over.Well we can’t say that Sweden have failed miserably yet can we? I didn’t think the government would butcher the economy even more mind but I was wrong, now the public want as slow an opening as possible as they fear another wave or lockdown, not acknowledging the impact millions of vaccinations will have. Some interesting reading on this thread 6 to 7 month or so on. Nobody predicting a 2nd or 3rd Lockdown and a lot predicting we had learned enough to control outbreaks. Clearly not. Hindsight and all that
We learned plenty. Some interesting reading on this thread 6 to 7 month or so on. Nobody predicting a 2nd or 3rd Lockdown and a lot predicting we had learned enough to control outbreaks. Clearly not. Hindsight and all that
Worra dickhead.I agree, I think we’ll see localised spikes that get dealt with quickly. We should have sufficient capacity in the testing and track and trace systems to make sure it is kept under control.
Wouldn’t we all starve if there was no international trade? We learned plenty.
But the government didn't apply any of it.
Like closing borders. What f***ing good is international trade if we have no domestic trade!
Mandatory 10 day quarantine should have been in place since the start.
Test and Trace should have been given to the NHS, just look how well they're arranging the vaccines as proof.
Tories learned nowt. The only thing they've got right is desperately buying every vaccine they can get their hands on. But they still haven't really learned anything of the zero-covid approach which we all know is the right way now.
Or being desperately greedy. Which is more akin to what they are.The only thing they've got right is desperately buying every vaccine they can get their hands on
Aye me too, world-wide localised peaks!Worra dickhead.
