We’re making plans for 2028. We haven’t been since 2018 and only did Disney as my daughter was still quite young, but we absolutely hammered the character meets and upgraded the dining package to be able to do Be Our Guest plus a few others meals.

Like last time, we’ll look to finish with 3-4 nights over St Pete’s / Clearwater. Cannot wait.

It's gone up loads since then, it's all a bit of a rip off, especially with the added expense of fast passes, which used to be free.

It amazes me that so many people come over to Orlando and spent days / weeks frying at the parks but don’t bother coming over to the beaches. Very wise to add some days for that IMO.

Each to their own like if you’re not a beach person ofc.

I love it me. We’re at Clearwater beach right now just having a weekender (OLAM - P!) Get very well looked after at the Hilton and the breakfast buffet is top drawer. If you fly into TPA the shuttles from the concourses into the main terminal always have ads on claiming it’s the best beach in America per TripAdvisor or whatever.

We did a family holiday one year like that rather than just do Orlando. Orlando and St Petersburg, so saw some of Tampa and Clearwater as well. It’s something I’ve floated the idea about to my lass for our holiday next year. I quite like the idea of a Florida tour taking in Orlando, the west coast like Clearwater, Miami and then somewhere on the east coast.

Beaches wont even come into the conversation for us planning our trip. There are so many nice beaches with similar heat around Europe that don't involve a long flight and are a considerably cheaper holiday. When I am over in Florida I am there for what I can only get there, the parks. It is very trashing to be so busy everyday, so planning quieter days at water parks, or shorter days when you can chill out around the pool isn't a bad thing, especially over busier weekend days.

A water park is the one thing I wouldn’t be fussed about returning to next time we go. Similar to what you say, there are plenty of water parks all over Europe. We did Blizzard Beach and while it was decent, it wasn’t outstanding like the other parks were. So busy as well that by the time you’d queues to get on slides it ate up a lot of the day, so overall we didn’t get on that many things.

That is true. When we first went back in 2010 when we had 2 bags each and the pound was much stronger against the dollar we used the weekend days as shopping days in the outlets. When we were last there in 2018 we did things like discovery cove and kennedy space centre.

We are planning for Autumn 2027 for our next visit. I am hoping to use Avios to fly business class which I have never done. If I was to do that today it would cost £475 each return, with 180,000 points each. I will be using a companion voucher from the Amex BA premium plus credit card. So for the three of us that will be 360,000 Avios (180,000 + 180,000 + 0). I have 130,000 points so far. It is just a pain how there are no BA flights from Heathrow to Orlando so I could get the flight from Newcastle down and change there. Other options are Newcastle-Heathrow-Miami or Glasgow-Gatwick-Orlando or just drive to Gatwick, stay the night before and fly direct. The last option is probably what we will end up doing.

Hadn’t realised that about no flights from LHR to Orlando. Seems strange. What time of year do the TUI Newcastle flights begin and end? That’s what we done this year and while Melbourne airport is a hike to Orlando it was pretty ideal really. We sorted our own transport, a fancy Merc minibus.

Not sure, to be honest I didn't know there was a direct flight. We have always done Manchester to Orlando on Virgin Atlantic, but their points system isn't as good and business class still costs a fortune.

When was a kid we always did a week at end of fortnight of Disney at Clearwater. Now that thought doesn’t enter my mind when we head to Disney. It’s parks and pools for the whole time.

We’re not a beach family, seem to much prefer cities, themeparks and exploring.

Aye TUI Dreamliner direct from Newcastle to Melbourne on the east coast, which is about 80 miles from Orlando. Ideal for when you get back not having to clart on coming back from Manchester or anywhere else.

We’ve looked at Melbourne flights before but the transfer/uber time puts me off.

I wouldn’t let it put you off tbh mate. I was dreading it a bit really before we went but it really wasn’t a bad journey at all. Quite enjoyed it actually just taking in the scenery and new areas I hadn’t seen before, both journeys went over very quickly. The way we looked at it was, it’s either a journey to and from somewhere like Manchester in this country or a journey between Melbourne and Orlando. The latter was way more appealing. I think TUI offer their own transfers as well because we saw coaches picking people up but we fancied sorting it ourselves so we could go direct to our hotel and back.

Cheers. Wife is a bit sick of the travel home from Manchester (Even the stop off at chopstix at Skelton services isn’t cutting it anymore for her).
