No one's going mental mate, it's just a bit of fun.

In all honesty, last season wasn't the only time we've finished above Newcastle recently.
Even before your relegation you were quite poor and the wheels were falling off.
We've been here for 5 seasons whereas you've been in the Championship.
You signed nuggets like Kuqi last season and are signing unproven players now.
I'd say that's more than a fanny's hair,

aye but the kuqi signing was only a stop gap, albeit a ridiculous one. We needed a body after Carroll leaving. If Sunderland had of dine the same then the gap between us could have been larger but it wasn't.

My point is that there is a lot of people desperate for the roles to be reversed with us being vastly inferior to yous after the last two decades and at the moment it clearly isn't. I take on board your unproven players point but this surely also applies to dong, wickham etc. We can only take into consideration the present and not seculate over the future. Rest assured that if yous do put some daylight between us then I won't go hiding on the matter as I'm sure you won't if this, and it is only an if ,fails to materialise.

I can smell the shite from here.

You're obviously bricking it, scum.

This bloke is clearly not scum to be fair.

The 'vastly superior over two decades' comment is wishful thinking though ........ during that time Newcastle spent vast amounts winning nowt and also ignores our two 7th spot finishes as well as the wins at SJP. It's not like you've been continually above us and you won't have forgotten you were recently in a lower league I imagine.

Here's some info on Ujpest Dozsa.

...

The 'landmark' of the team – as always for Újpest – was goal scoring. The famous Fazekas – Göröcs – Bene – Dunai II – Zámbó attacking formation, invented and led by manager Lajos Baróti, scored dozens of goals, attracted thousands of football fans both in Hungary and outside the country. Bene became 5 times topscorer of Hungary, Dunai II and Fazekas won the Silver boot award for scoring the second most goals in the continent.
I'm not sure you should have mentioned that part, it only reminds us of something that no Newcastle player has ever won ... ;)

Going through on the toss of a coin was common place and not restricted to The Fairs Cup. Read about Ujpest you might learn something.

Consider this Uefa had a competition for league winners which excluded some league winners and The Cup Winners Cup. Both involved small numbers of clubs. The Fairs Cup was contested by some league winners, teams that finished 2nd downwards in their league and was contested by more clubs.

If you were Uefa what would you do? Take it over and try and belittle what has gone before in comparison to what was to come.

And don't forget that famous Fazekas – Göröcs – Bene – Dunai II – Zámbó attacking formation .............. there's barely a week goes past when there isn't a thread on here about that forward line ;)

Well no.

That would be totally ludicrous. They say they didn't organise it because they didn't organise it ........ oh, you missed the bit about teams not showing up for their games

Had this discussion before but Shearer would've won it twice and Cole would've won it once if the rule change preventing players from Micky Mouse leagues winning it was implemented earlier, take nothing away from Phillips though because the ruling makes perfect sense. Although I'm sure Shearer will take solace in the fact that despite missing out on a Golden Boot he remains the Premier League's record goalscorer and doesn't look set to be beaten any time soon.

Ryan Giggs and co are devastated.

WTF I mean what the fuck are you talking about moron

You might want to get on the phone to AC Milan (after you've rang Barca, Arsenal, Leeds, The Telegraph, Daily Mail and Chronicle) to tell them their European Cup triumph from the same year doesn't count, 3 teams didn't show up over the course of the tournament obviously meaning their victory was meaningless.

Just accept that at that time teams not showing up for European competition was common place.

I think that's that argument put to bed, Riviera.

Hmm?

Surely you don't think football was only invented in 1992 do you?

Mr Greaves will not be happy ...

Ryan Giggs and co are devastated.

There's no reason they should be. However, at the same time there's to reason to belittle such a massive achievement. I'm sure you'd have been very proud if 'Sewpa Kev' wasn't a flash in the pan and had been able to maintain a high level of goalscoring in the top-flight throughout his career allowing him to reach the summit just as Shearer did. ;)

22% penalties and no medals.

haway riv, we were streets ahead. yes you finnished 7th twice but is that something to shout about. Anyway It was years ago and the last thing i want to do is go around the block on the what we did / what yous didnt but you have to admit we were head and shoulders above yous. There is no shame in accepting this now. Yes we spent a league in the championship but came back straigt away, its only now yous are starting to get rid of your yo yo tag.

My only point is that gypsy mackum said that we are now in your shadow as liverpool are to man u which in my opinion is frankly ridiculous.

Anyway the mags are shitting it end of story, FACT

ok. The stage is yours, tell me what I am shitting my pants about. Yous said exactly the same thing last season as yous have for the last couple of seasons and frankly there is nothing to suggest that we should be shitting it.

Seems like the majority of Newcastle fans over on n-o are rather optimistic.

Somewhat goes against your assertion(?). Or are you one of those guys who are informed by the Newcastle fan at work? Because those guys are the true oracles of all things Newcastle.
