Dippy egg & soldiers

Yup all the time. Don’t dip just eat the bread and spoon the egg out. Remember to always smash the egg in with ya spoon to look after the seamen. Bad luck if you don’t.

Never heard that superstition.

Quite often, but I use toasted crumpets for me soldiers instead of toasted bread

Poached eggs are a quicker alternative
Drop of vinegar in water
Cook for the time it takes to toast the bread
Twist of s and p to finish

Unfortunately, chocolate spread on toast takes less than 4 minutes (well actually, with our toaster it does'nt) so/but boiled egg and soldiers is too big an environmental footprint. A long forgotten pleasure for us
