The issue with the height was him getting too close to the keeper. It's a disguised chip running at speed. That limits the height he can get in the ball.

I’ve not watched it back, but from what I can remember there was an angle where you could see Talbi running beside him, and he’s not shouting for the ball from what I saw.People keep saying he can't see talbi, surely talbi is screaming for it? If he doesnt, fair enough, but I'd expect a player at this level to have a bit more awareness about them.
The issue is the technique. He hasn't sat martinez down but he's made his mind up what he's going to do. He gets too close and doesnt make martinez commit.
I won't crucify him for it either but it was poor. He apologised for it after the game. Same with Enzo's panenka. It was poor but hopefully he puts it behind him and reacts the way Enzo did.
The moment it came at, and what it meant, make it look so much worse. Minute 1 in a win and we're probably not talking about it.
I’ll have to see that again to judge whether he’s going to get back to it. Diarra was continuing to run forward after the chip as well which could have helped him tap it in.I agree with nearly all of that, aside from the finish. Even it beats Martinez there's not enough pace on the ball and the defender (Maatsen?) is getting back to clear it.
The defending was very poor yesterday. O’Nien couldn’t handle Watkins at all.Its a bad miss but not an unforgivable one, he made a bad decision and it felt way worse in real time at the game and on the journey back.
I'm probably now more upset at the defending and lack of pressure on the ball/marking for the goals we conceeded having watched it back.
As awful as it feels the team are so young and need experiences like yesterday to learn from.
However I wouldn't have typed this last night as was livid, but perspective needed once the dust has settled.
On what basis are you an expert on one on ones ?The keeper should have had no chance of saving it. Do you understand that?
The lad has apologised to the group and Regis says "I don’t know what the decision-making was, it’s tough to say".
I suppose that you are?On what basis are you an expert on one on ones ?
That's why i didn't add what i thought he meant, i just left his words there. You always have to remember with Regis that English isn’t his 1st language.
Even Tuchel struggles with this, in that people take what he’s saying too literally when they just don’t understand how it’s coming across.
He's between the player and the goal. He's always got a chance. The keeper should have had no chance of saving it. Do you understand that?
He has got some good qualities and that’s work rate and getting into box , if he keeps it simple I think he could be an important player but he hasn’t got the skill level or composure to be clever, and that’s based on what I’ve seen so farHe wasn't excellent last week. He was improved but not excellent. Last week his final ball was poor along with his decision making. He has all the right attributes but contributes very little. He did do well for Rigg's goal but so many times his passing seemed lazy. I am hoping there is far more to his game than we have seen but considering he is most expensive ever player he has been a big disappointment. I don't know whether he's trying too hard, suffering from a lack of self confidence or is just not that good but no one can be saitisied with his contributions to date.
Totally agree - for someone who loves to push, leave one in late on people etc he's one of the biggest divers and whingers in the league. Infuriating to play against but we'd probably love it if he was doing it for us!McGinn man. I know he's a quality player, I know we'd be lucky to have him at this club but something yesterday just made me really dislike him. He was complaining, moaning and in the refs ear at every opportunity he got.
I think you know what I meant. He's between the player and the goal. He's always got a chance.
Some of the mags on this thread are hilarious.
Mind the gap you pillock.

I had this exact thought when I saw it. It would need another touch to get it over the lineI agree with nearly all of that, aside from the finish. Even it beats Martinez there's not enough pace on the ball and the defender (Maatsen?) is getting back to clear it.
He had a good game apart from the big chance.
Second half he was occupying that last man sweeper role a bit too much for my liking, I prefer to see him running. That's not on him though, and that tactic allowed for Xhaka and Le Fee to push on, so swings and roundabouts.
I'm disappointed to get nothing when we could have taken all 3, but that's football. We move on.
And get behind the YOUNG lad.a small suggestion for everyone on this:
time to let it go.
And get behind the YOUNG lad.
