Diarra lately

Diarra missed a one on one away to Bournemouth recently, when he hit it low but the keeper made the save. Maybe that was playing on his mind when he’s one on one against a better keeper in Martinez.
I don't think Mings is stopping this going in

Cheers for posting this, because I was under the impression Mings was a lot closer to that and would have easily cleared it.

It’s obvious from that if Martinez fails to get a hand to it, it’s a goal.

The more I see it, the more I think it’s a very good save. He comes out, stays big and gets a good reactionary strong hand to stop the chip.

Really annoying that he’s managed to save that, but I’m not going to go crucify Diarra over it.

He also won’t be able to see Talbi outside of
him, so it’s pointless saying he should have passed it. It’s a real life football game, not a match on fifa.

I came on here to say exactly this. His decision was nowhere near as bad as Elf's penalty. He had a decent game (and has been good in the last couple of matches) and the vitriol towards him is ridiculous. I just hope he puts it to bed against Forest, in the same way as Le Fee has, since Brentford.

Comparisons to NDong are pathetic. We need to get behind our young lads, not hang them out to dry. It's only a few games ago that Rigg was getting pelters, too.
I haven’t seen the NDong comparison post but it is ridiculous. He’s nothing like him, in style, ability or attitude.

Even just this, plus the practically 1 on 1 he had on the opening day shows what he brings. Sadiki, Le Fée, Xhaka...none of them are going through 1 on 1 and he has done it loads in far fewer appearances. Some stupid **** called him Paul Thirlwell, a lad who could hardly run and never even had a shot or scored a goal.

Yep. His energy and pace is vital to us.

He just needs to work on his composure and technique when striking the ball. That will come with a full pre season hopefully.

I thought he was having a good game first half. I thought we were. I thought 2-1 half time was a bit harsh on us.

The early goal second half kills us a bit, but we kept plugging away and get ourselves back into the game very late from nowhere.

I don't feel like anybody was particularly poor yesterday. I just think we came up against a good side in a good moment.

Villa's had a rough patch recently, and have been in similar form to us (we're actually in better form over the last 6), but they've got important players back and buoyed by their progress in Europe.
Yeah they played some decent stuff with McGinn and Cash. The level of the game is light years away fron the Championship. Watched Boro v Ipswich and both teams are shit. We went toe to toe with a top five team.

It's worth remembering that a fair few on here wanted Le Fee's legs amputated as punishment for missing a penalty at Brentford and look at the run of form he went on directly after that night!
To be honest I.lost the plot that day and got called out for it. Also with Mundle against Fulham. I'm learning to shut up and admire these lads. A few people called me a dick and they were right.

The technique isn’t bad at all and it goes in v most keepers. Sadly, Martinez isn’t most keepers and therefore you have to just try to find the bottom corner with pace.
As been said though, a cracking run for it.

Now the dust has settled and I’m not commenting via adrenaline/alcohol/piss and wind, I’m not even that disappointed by the result, I’m more proud of the team and their attitude. What a game against one of the best around.

It’s difficult to keep your shit together after a disappointing result like that but you have to remember that these lads are busting a gut for us and giving them stick and getting on the backs must be the most counterproductive thing you can possibly do .

I think he was too composed, if anything. He went for glory instead of just belting the f*cker
I meant other chances he’s had where he’s hit it straight at the keeper or put too much on a pass.

The chip against Villa would have looked like an absolute top finish if Martinez doesn’t get a hand to it.

I was fuming at him yesterday, watched the match back this morning and I've calmed down.

First of all, he had a decent game. Nothing more, nothing less. He wasn't brilliant and he wasn't atrocious.

Fair play to him for keeping going and having the energy to make that run and putting himself in that position so late in the game.

Looking back now, yes the probability of us going 3-4 up and potentially winning was much larger if he had decided to slot it around or under Martinez or laying it off to Talbi. In his defence though, the Premier League is fast paced, you'd imagine he's got a hundred things going through his head at that moment, this wins it, I can be a hero, there's 40,000 people watching me, this guy is a World Cup winner and one of the best in the world, where am I putting it, what if I miss? All that in a matter of a seconds for a lad think of in seconds at his age.

He just needs to get his head down, keep putting in the performances and put this behind him. Hopefully he comes out the side an improved player and more focused as Le Fee did after the stuff earlier in the season.

McGinn man. I know he's a quality player, I know we'd be lucky to have him at this club but something yesterday just made me really dislike him. He was complaining, moaning and in the refs ear at every opportunity he got.

It really doesn't beat most keepers. It doesn't have enough height on it.
