Derby County deal expected to collapse

What did he do wrong

Broke numerous financial rules and committed loads of irregularities like the selling of the stadium and naming rights. The deal to bring Rooney to the club was also dodgy as fuck funded by their sponsor hence why Rooney had to wear the number 32 shirt.
which of those are crimes?

Yeah, that's probably true. Another reason why I would be astonished if the highest potential league didn't decide they fancied the boost of selling Derby as many tickets as they can.
It'll depend on when it all happens. There's a point where it's too late to move teams around to accommodate a phoenix club. If Derby go bust now, will League One just run with a team less? Feels a bit late to have a team preparing for League Two to suddenly be in League One, and similarly bit late to arrange a tea, who's prepared for non league football to jump up to league football.

A phoenix club would need to be set up and then ask around to see which league would leave a space for them. A fair chance the conference would take them, but depends on what kind of team they would have as if they can't put a competitive team out then might not be worth it for the league.

Mansfield to one and Solihull to 2.

If this is all genuinely a revenge plot by Mel Morris to make the sure MA doesn’t takeover then it’s so sad.

I heard the rumour is Mel fell out with Ashley when the mags stole Schteve McClaren from Derby.

It can’t be true but if it is then the mind boggles!
You’d think MM wad be buying MA a pint every time he sees him wadnt you?

And how prepared for League One would Mansfield be? They had a decent enough season getting to the playoff final. But they've bounced up and down positions at that level for a while. Would Northampton Town who missed out on automatic promotion on something like goals scored after just being in League One be more prepared?

Just going on how we made it when Swindon dropped 2 divisions after boot money.

We thought that about Stewart Donald, the fucker has nearly killed us
nearly killed us by putting us in a higehr dovoson and atrracting two billioanire shareholders to the club?
doinald has been very incompetent but tosay nearly killed us is ludicrous..
Didn't pay £30m to HMRC, but apart from all of that, what did he do wrong?
he paid more to HMRC than KLD and sartpri ever will..they are tax exiles

Charlton , Wigan and Bolton off the top of my head , were totally unprepared for recent seasons and were lucky to have a five a side team when they went in for training ,yet all managed to sort out a squad to compete .

Swindon last season.

So it's only wrong if it's a crime now?

Standards. 😎
wel it would have been worse if he had for example, been laundering his ill gotten, or somone elses ill gotten, through the club, which has been happening at atleast two premier league clubs for several years..
or using the club as a tax write off while goiving it the big un as a local philantrophist as has been happening at at least one champo club..
or using it to sportswash a horrendous regime as is the case with several premier league clubs..

yes..sveeral football club owners have..
my point is mel morris has been an idito but not done much morally wrong..most of things he did are things supporters on this board have called for uour various owners to do..

Such as? Never heard anyone wanting the club to sell the ground, for example.

its often been muted on here that the owner could do a fake ourchase of the ground as a way to put money in..
its often been said on here league rules dont matter cos they dont get enforeced...people then cite man city..who dont play in the same league as derby or sunderland

First line I've never seen anyone on here mention.

Second line, when I have seen it mentioned, has been more people questioning the point of rules rather than suggesting we break them.

The stadium and academy being owned by anyone but the club has always been a touchy subject, shown when Dumb and Dumber kept the fact MSD's 'investment in Donald' was secured against the stadium and AoL pretty quiet.
