Departures

I guess you didn't just post this then

I guess you’ve completely ignored the bit where I said the information had come from elsewhere 🤷‍♂️

Context is important and I clearly outlined where the suggestion had come from. I mean FFS T, I started the post with “THIS ISN’T MY THEORY, BUT

Or did you need a bigger clue?
Why come to Durham if they wanted to be near family in the south? He was in rotten form when he came to us, one good season and off to Somerset.

As I understand it, his partner is pregnant (or has recently gave birth). Children change your perspective on life.

If you meant to post "I have a friend who suspects..." Then that's not your fault for that.

But sure, I accept you backtracking once you found out you were wrong.

I really have no idea why you seem to have really turned on me recently on here, but aye, do what you want.

I haven't turned on you at all, you said something daft is all. And I've pointed that out. But don't worry, you're not alone in that!

Been very forceful towards calling out things I’ve said of late. in this instance I made it clear it wasn’t a theory of my own.

You said "it's not my theory" but then you said "I suspect that etc"

I'm getting sick of the negativity from everyone not just you but I think I'm better off just avoiding this place than trying to pull people up on the bullshit they're spreading

I’m getting sick of you accusing me of negativity when I’ve been anything but for months now. To the point where people ridiculed me for defending* James Franklin.

*I wasn’t defending him, merely insisting that people didn’t rewrite history just to confirm their own bias.

It isn’t my theory, but going off what was mentioned on commentary his family are based in and around Kent. He’s signing for Somerset, which whilst closer to Kent than Durham, is still a right bastard of a trip.

This is also not a dig at Sean Dickson by the way, as far as I can see he’s been the model professional for us, but I suspect the genuine reason is something to do with other factors in and around the club.

There’s not mate, purely family

You were complaining about foreigners playing ahead of local players
Hardly a foreigner. He qualifies for England (52, first class matches) almost played all his cricket in England, first class average of 37, is a good age, knows the county circuit exceptionally well. We've lost Dickson, Lees potentially going onto a central contract, Jones could well be with Scotland a bit more, Maddinson has gone, obviously we don't see much of Stokes, that leaves us pretty short. We need an experienced batsman (am I still allowed to say that?) And an experienced bowler. Totally all for local young talent and I'm arguably one of the biggest champions for that on here but we also need experience, we can't just field a side average age of 21, that wouldn't help anyone. It's like when you start a new job, always good to have someone experienced to help you start, exactly the same in cricket. A top order selection of Lees, Jones, Clark, Bushnell, Azad, Borthwick. Throw in Whitfield, Crawshaw and McKinney, who will be knocking on the door also. It wouldn't be the worst balance in the world. As of now we are minus Eckersley (now replaced), Salisbury, Dickson and Maddinson, also Potts likely not with us often. Those need replacing and I've already highlighted Weighall (if fit) as a useful addition and I think Azad wouldn't be too bad either. You would get them available for all formats which is what we need to be looking at in terms of value for money.

if we can add an experienced solid bat and use our overseas on the bowling that would be ideal.

at some point bedingham will stop being counted as an overseas too which could be helpful, assuming we have the funds, and the rumours about him leaving are shite

Watched some of Western Australia playing New South Wales in the opening match of this seasons Sheffield Shield some very useful pace bowlers playing on both sides and none currently involved in the current Aussie set up.
With the Ashes being played in the first half of the sumner there must be a few good quality Aussie state bowlers fancy a stint in county cricket with the hope of a call up to the Ashes squad if there are injuries.

Salisbury confirmed to Leicestershire

All the best to him. Find it bizarre how he didn’t get a go ahead of the likes of Gibson this year when fit. A much better bowler with a much better record. We’re extremely light on experience now. Can’t afford Raine to drop off next year now as if Potts is away with England, Rushworth on the decline/head elsewhere, Coughlin limited matches. Not many other to go too
