Hardly a foreigner. He qualifies for England (52, first class matches) almost played all his cricket in England, first class average of 37, is a good age, knows the county circuit exceptionally well. We've lost Dickson, Lees potentially going onto a central contract, Jones could well be with Scotland a bit more, Maddinson has gone, obviously we don't see much of Stokes, that leaves us pretty short. We need an experienced batsman (am I still allowed to say that?) And an experienced bowler. Totally all for local young talent and I'm arguably one of the biggest champions for that on here but we also need experience, we can't just field a side average age of 21, that wouldn't help anyone. It's like when you start a new job, always good to have someone experienced to help you start, exactly the same in cricket. A top order selection of Lees, Jones, Clark, Bushnell, Azad, Borthwick. Throw in Whitfield, Crawshaw and McKinney, who will be knocking on the door also. It wouldn't be the worst balance in the world. As of now we are minus Eckersley (now replaced), Salisbury, Dickson and Maddinson, also Potts likely not with us often. Those need replacing and I've already highlighted Weighall (if fit) as a useful addition and I think Azad wouldn't be too bad either. You would get them available for all formats which is what we need to be looking at in terms of value for money.
