Departures

well he's going to assume he's in a job next year until told otherwise. i'd hope those discussions are ongoing, but it wasn't long ago people were saying how great marcus north came across whilst wanting franklin gone.

honestly, i'm not optimistic enough to think there'll be a big clear out, but i certainly wouldn't read those quotes and think they have an connection to whether there will be or not

North did speak well, unlike Franklin. Maybe I'm guilty of been taken in by him on that evening but point remains they both need to go.

Do I think changes will be made? Nope.

North is involved with the 100. He has been at Durham games in between though
I think North being away is not the same as the coach being away. But as he needs to be more hands on the coach has to be there and in the dressing room. Director of Cricket is more administrative. I wouldn't expect him to attend games, at least not all games.

My take anyway.

Being able to see the failings of this squad, areas we need to improve upon, scouting players who are available and could help and working on recruiting them surely is in his remit. Would be nice to know he's putting effort rather than actively putting in effort to weaken us by recruiting our players into the hundred and working to devalue the competition were in.

How can we take seriously his comments at the members forum about valuing Durham's future ahead of the Hundred when he's employed to improve it?

Well he hasn't done very well then given that all this season's signings Pietersen, Drizzell, Crawley, Turner all underperformed whilst Shadrach has been an utter disaster especially when the obvious need was for a top bowler. That signing alone merited dismissal. Clearly Durham coaching and scouting staff don't undergo performance reviews.

Drissell is a bit early to write off isn't it? Crawley I guess I've forgotten already, turner looked ok didn't he? Can't really blame north for him getting injured. Maddinson definitely been poor, apparently it was a done deal by the time they realised we needed a bowler more but I don't like being in the position of defending him because the results speak for themselves

External signings should surely be oven ready-the academy is there to develop our home made potential. Tye played 8 T20 games with a highest score of 33. That's underachieving for your overseas. Strikes me as another North Aussie mate signing.

Tye was a bowler. And he was an Aussie mate signing, seriously you don't know the story behind tye signing? It's a cracker

I thought Tye did ok considering he was on his hols when we signed him, hadn’t played for weeks and didn’t even have his boots 😁

Surely Crawley has to be one of the worst bits of business Durham have ever done? He’s what 23/24 and not even in playing 2s cricket let alone even been named in a 1st team squad. Who actually chooses to sign him like what do they go off his club record or do you reckon he has contacts that know Franklin/North once again?
