Offer him a sizeable promotion rise

If he’s on more than £1.7k now (I expect so but not by much) he’d be taking a pay cut.

Moreover, why would he risk us not getting promoted and being tied to £1.7k, when he’d be on what 8x that in the Championship? Possibly if a promotion rise was combined with clause where he could leave for a set amount if we weren’t promoted.

If we think L1 is bad now, just wait till the wage cap really bites over the next 2 seasons. And no it won’t level the playing field - the gulf between L1 standards and newly relegated clubs from the Championship will be massive.

MacFadzdean demonstrated yesterday he’s a viable alternative to Hume or will be when he‘s fully fit.

Yesterday should be a timely reminder to Hume that if he lets his standards slip there’s someone ready to take his shirt.
Aye let’s have pressure on one of our better players while the lazy useless fuckers like Dobson Power Graham and Grigg swan around taking the piss knowing they’ll always be somewhere around the starting line up !!!

If he finds having someone else competing for his place in the side ‘pressure’ he might as well give up now.
I like Hume but it’s indicative of how far we’ve fallen that a player who is quicker than average and has the ability to take a man on is almost beyond criticism. That’s despite being a questionable defender and delivering a very poor final ball into the box more often than not.

You like him ? Then criticise him like that !! No ones beyond criticism but out of the starting 11 he would be the last one to have a dig at ! It’s patently obvious that some on here genuinely don’t rate him. Others didn’t rate Mumba and definitely don’t rate Kimp. Obviously we need the establishment of Wyke Maguire Onion Gooch Power Graham et al as our backbone to success

I agree no player is beyond criticism. Hume is a promising player still learning the game.

His pace alone would virtually guarantee him a place in our current side so devoid of that commodity are we in the rest of the squad.

Is he the finished article ? Not by a long way.

I hope he continues to improve and makes the most of his talent.

 I love how some people always think wing backs or full backs even with better attacking qualities would be better further up. Its called the PVA argument. No they benefit from having space in front of them that they would have further up the pitch.
Fuck me steady on, I didn't realise we had people on here that actually understand football.....agree totally different going from a standing start or back to goal as wingers spend a high % doing as opposed to 90% already moving forward with the ball.
