Denver Hume

Was impressed by McFadzean's football in general but still allowed players to cross the ball into our box and doesn't appear to have a lot of pace. Won't replace Denver but good to have some cover in case of injuries.

MacFadzdean demonstrated yesterday he’s a viable alternative to Hume or will be when he‘s fully fit.

Yesterday should be a timely reminder to Hume that if he lets his standards slip there’s someone ready to take his shirt.
That sir is what makes a good team better when there's real competition for a starting place.

Hume can talk to other clubs from January and will likely be sold unless he agrees a new deal in the next 8 weeks, just in case anyone was wondering why they'd picked up mcfadzean on a free.

We picked up McFadzean as we had no other cover for Hume, just as we picked up John in January on loan and looked at about 6 other left backs having signed that idiot from Leeds on loan during last summer.

As much as I think owners are shysters it's just the manager (and a defensive one at that) getting defensive cover in for probably the most important positions currently in his side.

What happens with Hume is another matter.

He can't speak to other clubs in England until after the third Saturday in May as per the rules and regulations of the EFL, and only if he hasn't been offered a new contract or he's declined the offer in writing.
He can speak to Scottish clubs from 1st Jan though

This is further evidence of how far we’ve fallen.

Each of these three shouldn’t be ten a penny, they are what a professional football should beThey have qualities that are largely physical and psychological.

A good attitude and a bit of pace or ability to run makes you a stand out player at SAFC at present.

The decision to offer them new contracts is based on the proven inability to recruit better players by the club.

So I’m in.

Glad we have an option to play there when the club fuck up and don’t give Hume a new deal and he leaves on a free.

The club simply can’t offer him a decent contract. Has to be £1.7kpw or thereabouts while we’re in this league. We’re shafted with Hume - by the L1 wage cap more than the clowns running SAFC.

He’ll leave unless we go up or the cap is overturned. And even then it will be hard to keep him.

Self inflicted wound by this League cos other clubs won’t be able to keep any decent players they have coming through either.

Offer him a sizeable promotion rise
