100% agree with this. Also I don’t think a single player had a go at Cirkin for doing it so have to assume they all know where and when they press and he was fine to do so. When you press someone is always going to have to technically be out of position you just need to cover and work it from there. We nearly pinched the ball because of it but unfortunately from there every single thing Leeds did was perfect while a few things we did were not.Respectfully disagree. When a trigger for a press is there, you press as a team and whoever is closest goes and goes with intent.
Seen it loads this season and it’s clearly something that’s been coached into the team. We’ve had loads of praise for the way we press this season. As a team, we just didn’t quite get it right yesterday and - to be fair to Leeds - they moved the ball very well to get around us.
Of course a left back can close the keeper man. What you’re describing isn’t how it worksA left back can't be closing the keeper down. He got carry away fair enough but as soon as Leeds get possession and he has no chance of winning it back he should be sprinting back into his defensive position.
Defending is his primary role. He got it wrong and it cost us. Generally I thought he did very well especially given his lack of game time.
