Defoe "I always want to play well and score goals. I had that same attitude on the playground. I always want that buzz of winning and scoring. Nothing gets close to it.”

Something tells me he won't be a happy bunny here.

I suspect we won't sign Defoe unless or until Altidore signs for a MLS side, we have until miday tomorrow to complete deal in order for him to play on sat

A bit surprised were not tracking the flight

Me too,the standard on here is very poor.Surely one of our brothers in North America could get to Toronto to let us know when his flight touches down!

I wouldn't be at all surprised if we play like this, not just because poyet is bullish about his system [bar that farcical 5-2-3 or whatever it was for two games]

Our best spell in the premiership since quillips was with darren bent on his own up top, who in all the same ways as defoe can't play on his own up top.

if we have giaccherini behind him playing through balls for defoe to run onto then we can play to his strengths whilst still having the numbers in midfield to keep possesion and press hard [with a bit of effort]

we even have options with the likes of reveillere, bricutt, rodwell, wickham, fletcher on the bench

We played 2 up top then, kenwyne Jones and pretty sure he played with Asamoah Gyan in a front 2 as well with Darren Bent.

we did at times but jones & bent never looked a very good partnership, both were much better on their own. same with gyan IMO and by the time welbeck came good bent had started to look shite anyhow

Bent and SKP scored goals.
Why so snidey?

Afternoon all, finally worked out how to get on this forum, anyways,I'm personally happy with Defoe joining us,so much so I've twittered him and asked for a pair of size 9s..hope little legs has normal size feet

Not really any useful information here but I've always kept an eye out for Defoe as I used to share a house with his late father in Manor Park east London just as his career was taking off. The Sun actually ran a story with the picture of our house and 'England stars dad living in east end squalor' headline (wasn't even that bad!). Anyway, I think all I can really add is that I have always thought any big time Charlie type stories about him seem wide of the mark... humble background and seems very hardworking and family orientated (on his Mums side). Been wanting us to sign him ever since he went to Canada so can't believe it seems we are actually going to do it for once!!! Hoping he'll be a massive success even if just for the rest of this season. Football wise he always seems to keep himself in good nick and he's not one of those strikers who has run himself into the ground playing so many games like Michael Owen or even Rooney could be in danger of doing. For such a good player he's been on the bench quite a lot in his career which I hope means he has a few miles on the clock left yet....Haway Jermaine lad!!!!!

shit, I hope that they don't ask him to kick a ball

Imagine if they did his unveiling the way they do in Spain where the new player kicks the ball into the crowd.

Lawsuits aplenty from injured staff behind him being walloped.

What I like about Defore is that he is a ridiculously selfish player, and he shoots early often, lot of snapshots

Sick of seeing careful play, trying to work the perfect opportunity, sometimes you just need a striker who is only interested in scoring himself.
just described young CW

was hoping he'd have signed before i had to leave for work...

That looks like a cracking side which sadly we will never see
