My feelings on this over last 24hours.

last night - saw the early exchanges of this thread and thought not a chance.
This morning - got to work without hearing radio or news and the resident Arsenal fan mentioned it. I dismissed it completely and said not a chance.
Lunchtime - noticed it was actually real and got excited.
Hometime - really excited. Swap Altidore for Defoe, absolute no brainer.

Now - I have to say I'm not so sure. Right now, this season, swap for Jozy, he's a great signing. But if 3.5 year deal at 70k is true it is financial suicide. We'll be desperate to get shot of him in < 2 year.

So mixed feelings creeping in. Great for now, bad longer term.

I cannot for the f***ing life of me believe that ive just seen a convo on twitter where discussing if Fletcher may go now weve signed Defoe, that someone claimed that Defoe, Wickham, graham and mandron will be ok for rest of season:eek::rolleyes::lol:

He has no connection to Sunderland this lad so would be a random one for him to make up. He wouldn't tell me who is source is, but through his job I imagine he has a few decent contacts.

Just put £20 on it at 2/1 in case - he's put £100 on it.

Will wait and see.

Not really. It's an extra £2m per year than Jozy was on. Hardly going to break the bank and he could help the young strikers at the club.

If we are still in this league in three years, he will have been a bargain

I'm just happy we're active and at least trying to improve. We are always going to have to pay to attract the players and its long overdue that a big signing hits the ground running for us.
