Defoe

To all the people who are questioning this Defoe deal...

Defoe signed for Toronto FC exactly a year ago (10th of January 2014). If we'd signed Defoe from Spurs last January 99% of fans would have been over the moon. He moved to Toronto on a four year contract and obviously thought he'd see out his career there on a nice wage. Perhaps he weighed up his options and wanted a change. Maybe he felt uneasy about signing for another PL club considering his loyalties to Spurs. But whatever the reasons were, he obviously has had a change of mind and either felt he left the PL too early or he felt he was unhappy in the MLS and maybe too good for it.

It's not like Defoe has been off playing in the MLS for years. And it's not like him not getting games at Spurs at the end was a sign of a massive decline. They'd signed Adebayor and Soldado for loads of money and the owners/manager clearly didn't see him as first choice anymore. But look how terrible Soldado has been and how inconsistent Adebayor has been. Maybe Spurs made a bad call. We are getting a proven PL striker, and like I said, if we'd signed him last season we'd be all thinking this was a massive coup.

He has got quality though. He's the type that doesn't always rely on a service he can create his own goals. I've seen him score plenty of goals from outside the box with either foot from fantastic strikes.
Having the ability to create his own chances is a huge bonus playng in our team!

Don't care about wages or contract length all I know is that I would rather see Defoe up front than altidore all day long! We might not create a lot of chances but at least Defoe can finish them rather than balloon a shot over from two yards!!
