A couple of the lads went and said it was crap. Theres also a revelation the day before which probably cant be made public as it would end up in the newspaper. People who know whos was involved in organising it will know what I'm on about

Has he been beheading children? the mergs will love him if he has

Do you think it will really change financially if KLD buys Donald out?I personally dont!If kld had a decent financially funded plan to get us into the premiership he would have bought out Donald shares and got the ball rolling............ his pissing about points to his motivation and penny pinching in my book! The money Donald wants is peanuts in the scheme of things if KLD's plans are to get us back to the premiership.

I personally think that KLD will be at Monaco if five years time and we will be run on an austerity model for the foreseeable future where the football is guided by the business plan and not the other way round.

The club would be in a much better place if it had been ran to a ‘plan’ during Shorts reign.
Whilst there is so much about football which is romantic and aspirational in pursuit of glory. Truth is not breaking even, not running the club in a sustainable way is sheer folly and we have suffered more than literally every other club. We were just a rich mans play thing under Short and the moment he lost interest we were knackered.
So I will be delighted if we are operated within a sustainable strategy, and hope that the owners can attract enough investment to make us competitive.

I think he'd still have a good chance and there's the possibility one of those will get injured. I just think he could have left that decision to AN, he's been in all but 1 squad up to now iirc. He's not really stepping aside to allow younger players to play, we signed him because we didn't want those players to play and we still don't.

How do you know that AN hadn’t told Defoe that he wasn’t going to pick him for the match squad again. Or that AN didn’t want to pick him but Speakman said he had to be in the match squad. All sorts of conversations could have happened behind closed doors which could have resulted in JD retiring, either unilaterally or through mutual agreement.

Your right about the plan thing but its difficult to break the cycle when you step into it when he did! Most of his money was spent paying off managers ,players and paying over the odds for players in panic to avoid relegation. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but it might of been better if we had been relegated early on in his regime so we could settle the debt keep a core of players and go again as Newcastle did.
Where is this investment going to come from chewit? We already have two owners with access to large sums of money and yet this sustainability model has us facing a fifth year in league one.....hope is what keeps us going but I have no faith in Mr41% and as the years pass the young fans will be lost and sub 20 thousand crowds at the sol will be a dark and sorrowful sight.

hiw about...and I know this is a radical idea...the club geenrates enough money to do this itself?
Under Ellis Short thats basically what happened..the club mostly funded itself..except for transfer fees..which short funded.

Now its not realistic that the club could, in league one, afford to maintain its current facilities and fund an expensive team-but thats Ok, because the owners are doing that...the academy has maintained category one status and there are scouts and coaches galore..and also the first team is very expesnsively assembled for this league..

I always say the reason we are in this division in the first place is because of Short. The reason we are still here is poor football strategy by Madrox
The running of the club facilities and cost of it would not have mattered much at all had we got promoted at the first attempt which let’s face it should have been a slam dunk.
Have we got it right now? Who knows but for certain with every season we are developing the mind set of a 1st division club.
As those facilities deteriorate only major investment is going to fix them... that’s on top of the team. Soon they will be. P
The owners had a massive opportunity to built a sustainable football club but they have blown it on the pitch.
Why they never just paid the proven manager a million a year to get us back to the prem is beyond me. Every squad has been good enough. It makes the investment in Grigg look ridiculous compared.
Conclusion Madrox were out of their depth and small minded when it came to the football side of things.

whats a proven manager at this level though...? no one has ever faced the challenge of getting a club with 30k gates out of the third division...phil parksion is proven on the CV level...in that he did a promotion from this league...but he was unproven in dealding with this level of expectation..people used to this level of expectation wouldnt need to work in league one for a million a year..
otherwise I agree with all of your points

I don’t have the answers Iam afraid . You don’t know how much is dictated by the fair play rules, how much is dictated by limits the owners have put on it.
It feels a bit chicken and egg. Until we get established in championship as a potential premiership club no one wants to invest in us. Which is why getting out is critical.
With the squads we have had they should have assured promotion. That for me is down to the head coach appointments.
I think Neil is more likely to get us promoted than anyone before.
He’s the first person where the club and pressures do not look to much for him.
I think once up the money will pour in. No one is going to put big money into a 1st division club

What do you mean ‘or through mutual agreement’. Defoe was under contract! He couldn’t have unilaterally declared his retirement without the club’s consent.

Proven manager? I thought getting rid of Chris Coleman was madness he would have walked the league. A Neil Warnock/Mick McCarthy 4 years ago.
Why not Keane 4 years ago.
As it is I think they now have as good as they are going to get in terms of both CV and mentality
