Death of the High Street

Yes, I remember when Bishop had every high street shop you could think of but now there's almost nothing left. However, you can understand the attraction of Tindale for the retailers - modern, purpose-built units with ample free parking

What with retail moving online and out-of-town as well as services (banks, travel agents etc), we need to ask what out town centres are for. Rather than looking back on an age of retail which will never return. Turn those empty shops into housing, small businesses and leisure facilities.

Just not sure a Spanish art gallery is going to be the answer to Bishop's problems,

More than just a gallery.. it's the whole package that is trying to be offered.. needs to buy up the shops.. rent them cheaply to specialist retailers and make it destination shopping..

Far easier said than done
