David Bruce leaving SAFC

If Sadiki left tomorrow, I’d back our recruitment team to find the answer. That’s what we’re built for.

Bruce is a different problem entirely. A boyhood Sunderland fan who left a career at the top of the MLS to come home. You’re not finding that profile again. That person simply doesn’t exist.

And it matters because so much of what’s reconnected this club with its fanbase these past two years isn’t replicable by just hiring a competent CEO. A lot of it happened because it was Bruce.
I know it’s too late but I hope the club take into account your sentiments marra (they are very important moving forward)
Hopefully we still have enough good people who love the club -it’s been mentioned many a time about the whole staff being “ connected “

^ nailed it

The only reason I can see is the club want to up scale to be the multi million pound organisation the Premier League money ultimately brings. That’s not to say Bruce wasn’t the right person to do that but KLD is proving to be ruthless with decisions like these.

Either way Bruce has been a great figurehead and ambassador for the club. Gave us a sense of the club back.

Very few of us here are corporate movers n shakers, so it's a complete waste of time speculating over it. You just have to trust that the club knows what's it's doing as we gear up to take the operation to the next level, and thank Bruce for his efforts so far.

As someone here once said, they don't take prisoners at this level...

I don’t think so, it all feels like a strategy for growth and sustainability.
Having said that Iam not convinced we won’t just become numbers.
People who’s life long support means nothing when it comes to prices and moving you out of seats etc.
That lack of sentiment will make us like any other Premiership club.
When you are an aspiring championship club you have to be careful what you wish for.
Let’s just see where the journey takes us… has to be better than being a yo-yo club
To be honest it could be either but making us more sustainable or prepping us for sale will both probably come at the cost of us becoming numbers as you suggest. I hope KLD stays around for a while yet but sometimes its just better to sell on the journey (and hype) rather than when you get to the destination.

Just a hunch based on no info at all. I wonder if they have some outside investment coming in?

This new ownership group runs the club from the board level and they appoint a permanent CEO to run the day to day side of things.

I’m not saying KLD is leaving at all but say someone came in at 30% it could likely dilute him down to less than 50% and all of a sudden the board setup and a CEO acting on behalf of the board makes sense

Thank god! We're desperate for someone with the business acumen to somehow make a loss on hosting concerts at the stadium during the summer multiple years in a row. When all he had to do was lease the stadium (that we own) to a production company who put on the event
Aye, SJM will have taken over and taken the profits of the lot
