Aye that rings a bell actuallywas it DC who is MBH brother in law
He's had 700 matches, of which the majority have been in the National League and Lower. He's not up and coming, he's been around for ages and no one has thought to give him a job in the EFL.He wouldn't be top of my list, but I don't see it as bad of an appointment as others do. He's an up and coming manager with a fantastic record who looks like he'll inevitably get a chance at this level, or the top end of League One before long. Just like many of the other foreign managers we've been linked to.
If it's not us that take a chance on him, someone else will, and we may regret not doing so.
700 matches, majority in non league, never managed in League 1 and now just drop him into the Championship?I get what you’re saying but he was managing league two players, in league two and those are the results he achieved. He’s had something like 6 promotions with 3 different clubs; they can’t all have been flukes or bankrolled by rich owners etc. Other than him not being a ‘name’, I’d be quietly happy with this as a calculated gamble.
And gathered a great reputation doing so.Is it great? He's spent 600+ games managing non-league clubs.
See I get all that and accept the reasoning but at the same time we're happy to drop a 31 year old into the championship who hasn't even managed a men's professional game. It makes no sense really does it?He's had 700 matches, of which the majority have been in the National League and Lower. He's not up and coming, he's been around for ages and no one has thought to give him a job in the EFL.
You've said someone might take a chance on giving him a top end League 1 job, but you'd bypass that and drop him into the Championship?

He’s ready. Brian Clough & Alex Ferguson earned their corn in lower leagues. Would you rather have a mediocre manager who has managed in the Championship?Really? He's spent all but two of seasons of a managerial career spanning over 700 games in the non-leagues. Last year he got Stockport promoted into League 1. He's got no experience of managing above League two and only teo seasons of football league experience. That makes him ready for a Championship job???????????
Maric?Who hasn't managed a professional game?
So the club go from sacking Mowbray, a well respected experienced championship manager and in their statement justifying this decision say “"Central to that approach is a relentless demand for a high performance culture to be implemented throughout the club”
The club is then linked to a number of young foreign coaches before appointing ….. Michael Beale.
After an agonising yet highly predictable short tenure Beale is dismissed with the club saying …Our focus is now on the players and supporting Mike Dodds in the remaining games to ensure we achieve the highest possible league finish” - we crawl over the line in 16th place.
The season ends with yet more links to prominent young foreign coaches. Rene Maric, Will Still, Raphael Wicky are all said to be imminent appointees at various times yet the links now emerging point to Robinson and Challinor.
Does anyone get the impression they don’t have a clue what they’re doing ?
If we appoint a bloke like Robinson or Challinor we may as well rename the club Poundland AFC.
All I can say at this point is that I'm glad you're not in control of who comes in.He's up and coming given that he's went from The NLN to League One within about 5 years, having an excellent record whilst doing so. "Up and coming" doesn't mean new, or young. It just tends to precede the words 'new', or 'young'.
Not sure what your point is with your question at the end, given I've already answered it, unless you've somehow accidently missed me saying 'at this level':
"He'll inevitably get a chance at this level, or the top end of League One before long. Just like many of the other foreign managers we've been linked to.

Wasn't sure who you were on about marraMaric?
If he has then accept my apologies

Sure you're just a wum on this particular subject mind.
tbf its only a small minority who have ever heard of himLooks like I’m in the minority and think he’d be a good appointment!![]()
You did say he might get a top end league 1 job and then ignored that part when you replied like.I'm glad anorl.
Fancy asking me a question and calling me a wum for giving a normal answer.
