Really? He's spent all but two of seasons of a managerial career spanning over 700 games in the non-leagues. Last year he got Stockport promoted into League 1. He's got no experience of managing above League two and only teo seasons of football league experience. That makes him ready for a Championship job???????????He’s just won the League 2 title and has 2 other recent promotions. He’s hot property. Next step would probably be a club in Championship.
Id rather duel managers - winners get selected for the next match. Why not do something mad and just appoint both of these lads. The first club to have dual managers.
Is it great? He's spent 600+ games managing non-league clubs. He’s at a League 1 club at the moment. Why are you being so disrespectful to a manager who has a great record? Do you want him to just stop in the lower leagues? Kieran McKenna was a lower league manager a year ago.
Wasting your time mate being logicalJust like Rob Edwards and Luke Williams after overperforming at that level. Aye.
Sounds a lot like Rob Edwards. He's done alright.Really? He's spent all but two of seasons of a managerial career spanning over 700 games in the non-leagues. I actually think some attempt to keep fans onside wouldn’t be a bad thing. Bit of balance rather than appointments that seem designed to disappointSo no footballing reasoning there at all mate. You'd just go along with a decision to keep the fans happy?...surely you can do better than that.
Apart from the fact that Rob Edwards has spent two seasons managing in non-leagues and Dave Challinor has spent all but two seasons managing in non-leagues, you're exactly right.Sounds a lot like Rob Edwards. He's done alright.
If you think just because someone has done a good job in League 2 means they instantly get a crack at team in the Championship then fair enough.
I don't think he should even be in consideration yet.
Who? Alan Pardew? Gary Megson? Howard Wilkinson?I've seen worse suggestions mind.
I get what you’re saying but he was managing league two players, in league two and those are the results he achieved. He’s had something like 6 promotions with 3 different clubs; they can’t all have been flukes or bankrolled by rich owners etc. Other than him not being a ‘name’, I’d be quietly happy with this as a calculated gamble.Yeah, still in league 2 mind so not sure the stats are relevant.
Have you been around lately?Who? Alan Pardew? Gary Megson? Howard Wilkinson?
Don't understand the SKP link at all, nothing suggests to me that he'll be a successful manager...here or anywhere else, would still be our top scorer like if he returned as a player! What about if we got him with SKP? Think that would satisfy a few?
He's 48 hardly up and comingHe wouldn't be top of my list, but I don't see it as bad of an appointment as others do. He's an up and coming manager with a fantastic record who looks like he'll inevitably get a chance at this level, or the top end of League One before long. Just like many of the other foreign managers we've been linked to.
If it's not us that take a chance on him, someone else will, and we may regret not doing so.
He's probably less of a risk than someone like Maric but he'd come with a ridiculous amount of negativity. I don't think thats the way the club should go so soon after BealeI get what you’re saying but he was managing league two players, in league two and those are the results he achieved. Based on your reasoning DC would be a decent appointment then . FWIW I wouldn’t be adverse to giving him a shot at it.Apart from the fact that Rob Edwards has spent two seasons managing in non-leagues and Dave Challinor has spent all but two seasons managing in non-leagues, you're exactly right.![]()
