Isn't this the default 'how football should be played' way now, I wonder how many teams they dont recommend this to?" We will recommend a move towards playing a front foot style of football at a high tempo. A quick and mobile strike force, serviced by short passes from a high pressing, tenacious midfield, with service into the box provided by attacking full backs". This is where we've been going wrong. Who knew?
The thing is when this is the default, the footballers who fit the system become more expensive. Every side wants good Fullbacks, teams put a premium fullback. Every side wants a high press, teams put a premium on tenacious midfielders.
The real value would be to predict future trends. Look at Leicester, they are playing well with a more direct, counter attacking approach. The players they bring in don't have such a premium, but every player they bring in suits their system. Because they play well in their system their value increases.
Don't look for the en vogue. Think outside the box. The value is two fold; 1) you can pick up players cheaper, 2) you'll be playing a system that your opponents aren't used to facing, therefore will have more difficulty countering.
This has to be done in house. Employing an outside company with carbon copy solutions is very short-termist.
