The somewhat belated follow up to the early 80s German classic starts on Sky Atlantic tonight. Sounds promising - set in 1942, after the cracking of the Enigma code and focussing on both a U-boat crew and the resistance in La Rochelle:

From what the Guardian article says, it sounds like it works. Sensibly, unlike the Ben Hur remake, it's a follow up, not a total remake of the original at least.

I loved the original series. I'm always of the thought that that you shouldn't go back but if The Guardian review is as good as it says then I'll be watching and hoping for another belter.

My Great Granda was torpedoed by the bastards. We don't know what he thought of the film though, as those torpedoes were a bit too explodey.
