made by the german bit of sky - reviews seem to be all positive & its already been given a second series by the looks of things... shame that we know how it ends...The somewhat belated follow up to the early 80s German classic starts on Sky Atlantic tonight. Sounds promising - set in 1942, after the cracking of the Enigma code and focussing on both a U-boat crew and the resistance in La Rochelle:

Four and a half solid entertainment hours.I’ve had the film on my watch list for years and years now, always been put off watching it because I thought it was on for just shy of 4 hours and I can’t be arsed with films that go on that long.
Just checked and it’s only 2 and a half hours, will give it a go in the near future.
Fucking right. There's rarely any excuse for any film to be much longer than about 110 minutes.I agree with Hitchcock when it comes to film length.
The length of a film should be directly related to the endurance of the human bladder.
