Was pretty much the only lads fan in my school... escaped darlo at the first opportunity and never looked back

Knew a canny few lads from Stanley who worked at ever ready in that time frame. You'll deffo know them.
Edit, I'll know the two kingshead drinkers as well.

I used to drink in Kings Head during 80s, but as me and my mates washed and could also read, we went in the lounge. Always okay in the lounge, no Neanderthal Mags in there. Same with the Royal, haven’t been in there for years. (Won’t mention the Kings Head as it is now!)

The Royal is like that bar in Star Wars marra
Best avoided at all costs

I may know you as well mate, the Stacey clan used to frequent the Royal.

not gonna put names up mate, I reckon it's probably against protocol!
I went to see Newcastle play Ipswich the day before you lot played Norwich in the milk cup final. afterwards I caught the train down to London and stopped at a mates in Richmond, he had a few mates down from buropfield who were going to the match and one of them had a spare for the Norwich end so I tagged along. was the only happy person on the train back from kings cross afterwards! ;)
bumped in to a Stanley lad on the train and came out the central station with him and there was a bunch of the young up and coming gremlins (late teens) lying in wait for you lot, we were both about to get a kicking, me by me f***ing own, but luckily one of them recognised me.

bloody lucky escape!

:)

:evil::lol:

What school was a few of us at Carmel but mostly mags I live very near Polam now and mostly see Man City and Liverpool nowadays which is better than mags I suppose

I was at Carmel and there was about 5 safc in a year of 180 kids, about 15 or so newcastle, the rest supported man united, liverpool, chelsea or arsenal but had boro/darlo as a second team.

this isn't true, no fucker ever went in the lounge in the kings head, not even on a sunday!

;)

Often hear on here about Durham Mags but for me these are the worst of the lot. Was in Voodoo last night and a right little scrote of about 55 year old (6 stone wet through) was giving it the big one squaring up to someone for saying they were off to Wembley tomorrow.

The hatred people in Darlington in general have for SAFC is bizarre

anything like this?

used to be an irishman ran the kings head in those days, salt of the earth bloke.
sunday afternoons he he used to bring out huge platters of yorkshire puddings and roast tatties covered in gravy.
was like a stampede to get to them and they were devoured in seconds.
f***ing hilarious!

Did he have a beard and was an alcoholic? It might have been after I stopped going, his missus used to run it before him and she was great. If it is the bloke I think you mean, he used to be permanently open and run up tabs and take the giros off clientele!!
