Dan Neil

I think it's a difficult one. If he stays at Ipswich and they get promoted maybe we'll find out or maybe we won't. Same with Jack Clarke. He didn't really have any opportunities last season in the premier league with Ipswich; he might next year cos he's been different gravy this season.

Well at worst Patto and Neil being back in the Championship has me watching more games at that level.

Id already forgotten how enjoyable it is.

Jack Clarke is one for me who can 110% make the step up. His 1st season there was pointless mind.

Id have him on our left atm ahead of everyone bar Le Fee.

Not wanting to reopen this but how would anyone know, he's never had an opportunity
We can't know 100%, but with every passing game in the Prem I just couldn't see Neil coping with the pace, lack of time on the ball, etc.

Obviously the club thought similar and saw similar in training up against Xhaka, Sadiki, etc. otherwise they would've given him minutes.

Time will tell if he ever proves his doubters wrong.

Dan Neil is a very good championship player and one who may have stepped up in the premier given the chance to. That said especially when we were flying he wasn’t getting close to the likes of Xhaka,Sadiki,Le Fee in there. No shame in that as all 3 are quality as is Diarra once he finds his mojo.

One of the contradictions of this place, the people (Because they like Dan Neil) saying he's good enough for the Premier League and should have been given the chance are the same ones who say they trust Le Bris judgement about not playing players they aren't fussed about.

He is on loan at Ipswich very telling. The gulf is as wide as the Oceans.

Ballard, Hume? How's their gulf?
Because the coaches who saw him training every day with Premier League quality players, didn't think he was up to that level.

In their opinion. But likewise, they would never know, they never gave him a chance. And God knows, this club has given chances to some players nowhere near capable.

Let’s see how he’s regarded after ten games or so.
He is history makes no difference now. We have seen him up close n personal for years starring in Championship and making it in prem is worlds apart. No prem club wanted him thats why he is at Ipswich thanks for the memories.

Or he plays in the same position as our best player and captain, and had refused to sign a contract.
The contract bit is fairly irrelevant, if the staff thought he could give something he would have had some minutes. Yes Xhaka plays there but even on the rare occasion(s) Xhaka has been subbed Neil didn't come on for him. Anyway, good luck to the lad.

Shrewd move by Ipswich. If they go up they can disregard him like we did. If they don't go up then they'll be in a good position to offer him a contract
