Dan Neil

Perhaps like his fellow players he has to get up to snuff when training alongside his new colleagues, show he's ready for the task before being selected. Until he does so the offer on the table will reflect his current standing. Thus far the staff are of the belief that currently he isn't PL ready resulting in the stalemate. Same applies to Cirkin. Just a guess of course.
I dont think thats too much of a wild stab . People say well hes never been tested in the PL. Hes tested daily against PL quality players , in training games hes probably Xhakas mirror on the other side . Is he strong enough against Sadiki, Geertruide, does he shut Enzo down , does he get forward passes away, how many , hiw many caught in possesions ?
On top of the game stats there will be the pure sports science data . Can he run 13k and have anything left . How much lactic acid does he ship and how fast ( simple blood test ) , meaning hiw quickly can he repeat sprint in high intensity situations.
People think its like the old days where a tracky clad coach in a bobble hat and woodbine either likes a player or not .
Trust me , this club will KNOW Dan down to the methane content of his farts 😄

These are really good points.
Weapons grade, platinum plated bollocks
Didn't start the season very well mind. Or end it very well either for that matter.

He didn't really struggle for long parts. That's just absolute nonsense
Not really, theres a reason why he was the first player RLB replaced. Mad that people think because hes a Sunderland lad he should have had more of a shot.
Yes really. He could support Accrington Stanley and it would still be bollocks

Perfectly out and I think there is a lot to this that you say, it I also do think that with no contract signed has also contributed. Same will be for Cirkin once Reinildo is back.

I don't think he'd have played much more if he'd signed a contract, but from his point of view it would have looked like he'd been valued and offered one .That may have actually kept his stock up .
As it stands it looks ( to potential suitors ) like he has been an English quota filler kept around to cover the AFCON in case of additional injuries that didn't happen

Do you think he will be away in January.

Dont know obviously but given i cant see him ever starting and the potential for us to make an opportunistic signing late window its well possible . All depend on offers I suppose and how much he thinks he'll bank as a free agent .
I think he's definitely history waiting to happen though

He has undoubtedly been offered a contract, it might not suit him, but that's on him. The club simply won't see value to invest (game)time in someone that won't be here in 6 months time, Rigg on the other hand has had more game time that Neill based on a number of factors but also heavily influenced by the contract situation.

Its the same in any workplace, they aren't going to train up someone they think is leaving.

I think the likes of Rigg are played in the hope we can boost his market value. Neil isn’t as attractive for clubs due to him not being as young. He has definitely earned his chance to get some opportunities to play in this league tho
100% this, DN isn’t worth anything to the club now, if we boost his value now it would only benefit him. This club is run like a business with every decision made having the best financial outcome for the club.

Exactly.

I trust the club 100% more then anyone on here and there decision has been fully justified so far
The club have done a great job and warrant our trust, but absolutely none of them are completely infallible. We've seen errors and missteps along the way - very much including this summer and this season. Most we've got away with, but some have impacted us. We can't directly affect things, but unquestioning, unwavering trust is rarely a good thing for a fanbase to show.

Serious question, are you him/his agent/dad/ friend?

You seem personally aggrieved by any negative view of his part in where he is.
To be fair -it’s got to the point for me whenever I see his name on the forum at the top I think -“ here we go -he’s not played but some will want to take the chance to hammer him “
He’s unusual in he gets worse the less he plays -normally other way round.
He’s a Sunderland player so gets my suppprt ( uber fan I know )
