I hope he goes to one of the German clubs. If he goes to Sheffield United, he could end-up a perennial Championship player but, if he goes over there, improves further and makes his name, he could come back a good Premier League midfielder. He would always have Championship clubs after him, anyway.

If the lad really wanted to play football now and not wait until June to run his contract down and move, wouldn’t he already have left as we’re half way through January? He could have played 3 or 4 games with his new club. If you leave at the end of the month the season is a long way through. I can’t see what benefit it would be for him hanging around not playing only to then leave at the end of the month.

When he started to come through in league 1 I'll be honest I thought we had a future England capped player on our hands - he played with so much maturity for his age. He just doesn't seem to have developed as much from there - that said if there's one thing we should have learned from dan Ballard is that writing off players early is hugely prevalent and completely bonkers. Even xhaka was the same age as dan is now when he first went to arsenal and he wasn't exactly an instant hit. (No I'm not saying they have anything like the same ceiling just that I still don't believe we've seen Dans yet)
Id love the lad to go on and develop into the player I thought he would, I'd love it even more if it was here but he needs to get moved and get games against top quality opponents because he's stagnant or moving backwards warming our bench and for whatever reason he's just not gonna get a game if he didnt get a look in over afcon
