Dam Busters footage restored using ultra-high definition techniques ahead of 75th anniversary
To mark the 75th anniversary of the original 1943 raid over Germany, the newly restored film will be screened simultaneously in 393 cinemas across the UK on 17 May from the Royal Albert Hall.

And yes, the dog's name remains.

Great to see old films being restored like this.

I've just read about it myself and annoyingly already going out tomorrow night as I'd rather like to have seen it myself. It's being shown at The Gate in Newcastle.

No the dog's name remains and the thinking is that it reflects the sensibilities of the time. Which is fair enough imho.

How long before some indignant little spenk posts on Twitter about the dog’s name?

It also happens to star Westhoughton's finest, Robert Shaw.

Bit of bonus information for you there

At the end of the day it’s part of the film. That should be the only consideration on wether or not it is shown to an audience.

Yeah, it's a live screening - not just the film. I go to live screenings of west end plays and they are about £20.

Ridiculous really. The kind of people actually watching the film wouldn't be the type of audience to be offended but they sound like they were trying to preempt any complaints. I'm guessing.

It would genuinely surprise me if the people most pissed off about "PC gone mad" had ever seen the film.
